The medical costs to me are a non-issue because the military doesn't pay for any type of medical care a person wants. Like breast augmentation.
I don't know what the courts decided with the Manning case, but I believe the military could handle reassignment surgery the same as they do breast augmentation or nose jobs-if you want it you pay for it yourself.
