This is nothing new. We've known for a while now that Russian efforts have been going on like this. They didn't just target conservatives, they targeted everybody. They just targeted certain groups with certain things and were very selective in where and when they did it.

There are stories of people falling for stuff like this all over the place. It's not them willingly working with the Russians, or even knowing Russians were involved, but it happened often.
