Actually we did instill the value of calling people dbags if they are one and need to be told.  

Sometimes it's necessary to stand up to a dbag.  Sometimes you walk away and let them make fools of themselves.

Also taught them that if someone thinks they are dbags because of their beliefs it's ok to tell them why they are not and have a discussion rather than get pissy and act like a victim.  Oh, and that just because someone says a certain group contains dbags not everyone in that group is one.  Judge the individual by their actions not the group they are in.
