He was invited by a school organization that shares conservative views to come speak; so I'm not sure "he was asking for it" is a good response.

Although I do not agree with those that attend an event just to vilify it; I understand that is their right, but when they approach the speaker and take his property; they should be punished. Not the speaker trying to recover his property. 

Like many things: I do not see how this can be a partisan issue,
