Should The Players Be Asked About The Next HC?
#40
No,No NO.

No way do you hire a head coach that 'fits in with what the players kinda want'. If anything, with a new coach, EVERY single player should feel that they have to prove their worth all over again. His job is to create the culture of the team and players fit into it or they don't. If they don't they're gone. That is the only way a coach can be evaluated, if it's his team, his locker room, his culture. I truly believe that is why Marvin has lasted as long as he did. MB knew that Lewis was a head coach with one arm tied behind his back. You don't think Marvin lobbied for better practice facilities? Bigger scouting dept, etc? He didn't get much of what he wanted, but did keep getting extensions.

It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds. I can't think of any head coach that would take the position under the same environment that Lewis tolerated.
You have to believe you hired the right coach to build your team in his image and philosophy. It either works or it doesn't but the organization has to be all in for any chance of success. Player input ? NO WAY. Why give a player input into anything, when he very well may be gone in a year or two?
