Ryan was just trying to dumb that down for people.

Which might make sense if that aging population wasn't largely remaining in the workplace while our population increases, and it still doesn't present an answer for an economy that's stunk for three decades.

He can dumb it down all he wants, but we've got about 90 million more people now than we did in the 70s, and about the same purchasing power.
