It feels like putting an unnecessary celebrity element to the presidency, and it also feels like first ladys are pressured into something they do not want for themselves. If they want it, more power to them. When I see Melania, I see someone not wanting it, I do not hate her or attack her, I feel pity for her. Her husband just falls over payments to some of his probably various extramarital affairs and she has to stand there and tell the world how great everything related her husband is, even if he makes a mockery of her anti-bullying stance.

I don't know. That's just very American, I leave it at that. I don't even really know my leader's spouses, and I guess aside from France that's quite common.

I can agree with that.  I don't think when she married the very rich guy who thought she'd have all this attention on her.  Not that she hates attention, I'm sure, but it has to be like living under a microscope versus being able to pick when you are seen in public and how.

She may have felt pressured to do "something" like others before her so it didn't look bad for Trump?  I don't know.  But she probably isn't as comfortable with it as others have been in the past.
