I don't understand people trying to mirror their simple 9-5 with the once in a life time opportunity of being an pro athlete, but yea if you're a part of a team environment and you stop doing your part for the team you quit on the team. If you wanted to leave your company you'd quit the company. In both senses you're a quitter.
