Yea, my company never takes on lump sums for that reason. In engineering, there's too much that can go wrong. For those who don't know, engineering something, especially a pharmaceutical plant or anything in a refinery, can be, at times, extremely tedious and there is so much rework, you wouldn't believe XD.

I had a friend who worked for an company that engineered lubricants and he said he was working 50 to 55 hour weeks on a weekly basis. When he tried to bring it up to his manager like "Hey, can we take every other Friday off, since the schedule of our testing on Monday - Thursday already takes about 45 hours?" to which his manager replied "Why would I agree to that, when I already have that, plus your work on Friday?"

It's just really ****** up haha.
