If someone wants to trade up for a QB I would think they would want to trade with us at 3. No need to leapfrog us as we aren’t in the market. If anything they’re leapfrogging us to draft Sewell—and at that point, why wouldn’t the Jets just take him? I’d love to be proved wrong if we end up staying at 3 and he falls, but it’s silly to get ones hopes up when the chances are slim.
At this point, with Sewell likely gone at 2, I don’t care if we win out. We’d be in good position to draft a pass rusher, corner, or offensive lineman at pick 7 or 8. Similarly, if we stay at 3, trading down is a good option, but I wouldn’t be against taking BPA.
Have you seen Darnold? I think they are ready to move on and if there is a franchise QB you take a chance. This years class has performed well (Burrow, Herby, Tua, Hurts) which reinforces the logic behind doing so.
