Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics
(12-30-2020, 10:40 PM)Nately120 Wrote: Are there specifics to this "taking up arms" or is it a vague sort of threat/promise like a new year's resolution where people are totally going to get in shape or stop smoking in a few days for serious now?  Are people just going to grab guns and march into the White House and start shooting people?  What is the actual plan, here?

I just feel like "We're gonna take up arms!" is the "I'm running away from home and you'll be sorry!  I mean it!" for adults.

It depends on who you believe.

I've not seen anyone with any kind of real authority but rather the internet musings of "men" and some women who believe such a thing will happen.

Some believe it will be a spontaneous uprising and others think their group of militia men will lead the charge.

In most cases those they seem to have romanticized the Revolutionary War and combined that with their inability to tell fact from fiction about their own lives to create a fever dream where the daring group of rabble rousers defeat the giant government in the name of the lord and savior Donald John Trump.

I assume they would attack Washington DC first since that is where the "traitors" are that won't change the election results to help DJT.

I also assume that if any such action really did take place some, even here, would suggest they are just exercising their rights and praise them for taking over government buildings as long as they don't actually kill anyone...well as long as it can't be possibly described as "self-defense" anyway.  Smirk

And given how this country runs they would end up pardoned by the next Republican president no matter what they did.

Perhaps I have underestimating the ability of my friends who can't stand at the cooker too long because of his "bad knee" but will "march on" the capitol someday?
