One thing exemplary about the current situation is the behavior of the judiciary.

Many conservative, even Trump-appointed, judges were careful to follow that law as closely as possible, especially when ruling on standing and evidence as they addressed wave after wave of frivolous election fraud suits.

Surprising that the DOJ suddenly found a line it would not cross for Trump, if only at the very end.
