You mentioned hedge apples. Haven't heard that term since I was a kid. An old timer then recommended 'em to my dad, but only if we didn't have pets - he said they could kill a cat or dog who ate them. Don't know what a hedge apple is, or if that is true, just passing along alleged truth. Sorry I don't have a meme to go with it. Hilarious

Boric acid (available as the laundry detergent aid Borax) is wonderful. Sprinkle it in under your house and behind your washer and dryer and under your sinks and any where else the dogs won't walk through it (although they probably wouldn't eat it I still wouldn't want it on their paws even though it is naturally occurring and probably wouldn't hurt them) and you will be amazed at what it controls.
