Bengals to interview current Lions DC
So, his defense this past year was good at getting turnovers (mediocre at it in other years) and relatively bad at actually stopping points and yards from accumulating.

They do get a lot of sacks pretty consistently though.

If Zimmer and Guenther's philosophy was 'bend don't break' and prioritizing defensive efficiency over splash plays, is it fair to say Austin's philosophy is "for every touchdown we give up, we get a sack or turnover?"

I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the direction, but it would be nice to get more turnovers. If they can increase the turnovers without significantly losing the overall strength of the defense, I'd consider this a good potential hire.

That's all, of course, assuming that different coaching and play calling can reliably result in higher sack/turnover numbers.
