What Happened to the Comedy Movie Genre?
#63
Just imagine trying to release a "Blazing Saddles" type movie today. They'd cancel you, then bring you back just to cancel you again. Nobody can laugh at themselves anymore. Then add in the comedians who had to interject politics into everything, to the point I no longer find them funny in anything they do. Comedies are definitely going the way of musicals and westerns as dying genres. I doubt we'll ever see the likes of Rogers and Hammerstein or John Wayne ever again. Nor will we see comedic greats. Even Saturday Night Live hasn't been relevant in like 20 years.
