From what I know and have heard from the man I don't think MLK would be a "progressive" today or find many of its tenants acceptable. For example, race specific "safe spaces" are directly antithetical to his stated beliefs. Or is your issue that its a Republican quoting him?
MLK wouldn't have been a fan of the "virtue signaling" (to steal a term from the right) that we see by modern liberals. But he was a workers' rights kind of guy, so he may have actually fit in with some of the more leftist folks.
