He just played the victim, accusing others of trying to make it "political".In matters such as this, I always try to seek out the original video to know exactly what was said and understand the full context.
It would be like if the governor of a state said that exact thing about a BLM march where they were screaming about getting rid of the police and that white people were the only problem.
It's not wrong to speak out against the message without denying them the right to say it.
And for some, like DeSantis (and maybe a subgroup of his supporters) even criticizing the message is a step too far.
They, DeSantis and that subgroup, would rather attack the people questioning him...and that upsets him/them...for some reason.
Edit for clarity: That is not accuse anyone who disagrees with me of falling into that subset. That is to say that such a group exists...for some reason. If I called someone, say, "obnoxious" I would just say THAT person was and not dance around it.
Here it is in full
While he didn't say "I condemn them," he did call them Jackasses and Malcontents. Wether that is good enough or not is up to the individual.
Now, juxtapose that with Rachel Maddow's clip. Notice how it is nicely edited to leave out those comments. Notice at 2:45 the video is cut because the very next sentence out of his mouth is when he calls them jackasses. Convenient.
Im not taking sides nor forming an opinion of DeSantis, but this goes to show you how you really need to do your own digging to get the facts.
