I agree that it's stupid for anyone that's not carrying the ball, but growing up I always refused to wear sleeves to games because the ball slides out of the arms easier.  They do also have heaters on the sidelines, though, so it's not THAT bad for them to be on the field in short sleeves for a shorter period of time, but I agree that they're absolutely stupid for linemen to play sleeveless.
