It wasn’t. It was a ‘dumb call’ because they didn’t get it. If they got it, you’d be thrilled. It’s a risky call, but not dumb.
To answer your question, there is no situation where you go for it on your own 5. Teams are going to see their expected points go up if they are more aggressive on fourth down and that was a situation that numbers will say “go-for-it”.
