No lkaw is going to stop every killing. Just like no law against theft is ever going to stop every thief. But we have to do whatever we can to make this a safer country. Registration laws and ownership licenses would reduce the access of guns to people who should not get them without denying a single law abiding, sane citizens from owning firearms for hunting and self defense.
In the name of public safety and controlling liability we require the registration of cars and drivers license, so I don't know why we can't require gun registration and require a test to determine if a person is qualified to own a gun.
