If you saw the Bengals Christmas video I think they practice Chess with Burrow.

Sanu had 455 yards as the #3 WR in 2013. The #1 RB had 756 yards at 3.6 ypc.
Sanu had 394 yards as the #3 WR in 2015. The #1 RB had 794 yards at 3.6 ypc.
Boyd as a #3 is worlds above Sanu who got more love than he deserved because of a few TD passes. The run game was also just awful as you already acknowledged.
