I think you have that backwards, they were the 3 dominate teams. now there are a few more good teams with good QBS...

The Bengals had Carson Palmer and a slew of excellent players and couldn't even get a single playoff win. Zac Taylor has his shortcomings, but for the first time in three decades we have a winning culture and team.

(10-23-2024, 04:57 PM)XsandOs Wrote: [ -> ]Nate; I agree with you. There are several really good things with our offense:
1) We have a Peyton Manning type as QB
2) We have two premier WRs
3) We have a good O-Line
4) We match up well with Chiefs, Bills and Ravens.
But we have to keep our talent, and add talent at RB and TE position. The revolving door at TE is getting just silly, and a semi-capable running game would have closed out the Chiefs and Ravens game and we would be sitting at 5-2.

I know that it's dangerous to play the "what if" game, but if Palmer hadn't gotten injured, where would the Bengals have ended up that year? If Andy doesn't go down with the thumb injury leading up to the 2015 playoffs, I felt confident that that team was destined for the big game. That 2015 defense was freaking awesome!

In games where both Joe and Lamar are the starters we're 1-5.
The Zac Bengals are 3-0 (all Burrow starts) against the Josh Johnson, Anthony Brown, Tyler Huntley Ravens.
(10-23-2024, 07:53 PM)XsandOs Wrote: [ -> ]I understand your thoughts. But as a matter of completeness, please consider the following:
1) Setting aside the one rookie year game, 3 of the 4 losses were by 2, 3 and 3 points.
2) The 4th game margin was 14 points, but that is the game where Burrow injured his wrist, in which we were leading 10-7.
3) When Burrow beat Jackson in '21, he blew them out 41-17.
But this is 2024 - new year, new players, etc. The last game with them, a missed FG and the loss by 3.
I hear you and feel what you are saying, but I feel we match up well against them, similar to the Bills and Chiefs.
