Sure, it's fun to point back at the Marvin days and say "but he never won a playoff game in 7 opportunities", however his starting QB was injured for the 2 best opportunities that he had. I know that it's dangerous to play the "what if" game, but if Palmer hadn't gotten injured, where would the Bengals have ended up that year?  If Andy doesn't go down with the thumb injury leading up to the 2015 playoffs, I felt confident that that team was destined for the big game. That 2015 defense was freaking awesome!

Honestly, I used to think that until last season when Burrow went down, and we had a shitty Defense and somehow with a backup QB 
in Jake Browning the Bengals and Zac damn near made the Playoffs. That is when the Zac is carried by his players thought became a

Yes, lots of teams could win it now. Sure, the Chiefs once again are the front runners and about the only team that has proven they 
can beat them is actually the Zac Taylor lead Bengals lol

I never thought Bengal fans would be spoiled by success. Zac has led us to 3 straight winning seasons, 1 ended in a SuperBowl, one ended in an AFC Championship game, and 1 ended with a winning record, 1 game out of the playoffs, playing with a hobbeled Burrow and then a backup.

About every fanbase but 6 would love to have Zac as their HC, but there's those around here who want "better".

Actually not really at all on the Ravens. The Zac Bengals are 1-8 against the Ravens when Lamar Jackson plays. 
In games where both Joe and Lamar are the starters we're 1-5.

The Zac Bengals are 3-0 (all Burrow starts) against the Josh Johnson, Anthony Brown, Tyler Huntley Ravens.

Sunset, you are aggravating deep wounds here my friend. 

I still believe there was only one Team standing in our way to SB in 2005, the Colts. Carson was going to bomb the hell out of Steelers that day, and they knew it. We had just beaten them in Pittsburgh 4 weeks earlier, dropping 38 points on them.

And yes, 2015 was the year we had built up for. That Team started at 8-0 and was the most complete group of Marvin era. Then the thumb injury......

Obviously you glossed over the line that I bolded for you, this time. However, I still don't feel like it was all Lewis' fault that the teams never won any of those 7 opportunities. I highlighted the two best examples for you, but it you want to continue to focus only on the negative parts, that's on you.

I understand your thoughts. But as a matter of completeness, please consider the following:

1) Setting aside the one rookie year game, 3 of the 4 losses were by 2, 3 and 3 points. 
2) The 4th game margin was 14 points, but that is the game where Burrow injured his wrist, in which we were leading 10-7.
3) When Burrow beat Jackson in '21, he blew them out 41-17.

But this is 2024 - new year, new players, etc. The last game with them, a missed FG and the loss by 3.

I hear you and feel what you are saying, but I feel we match up well against them, similar to the Bills and Chiefs.

Basically, we need to equip Joe with the quality of OL and Defense that we had Andy and Carson in 2015 and 2005 respectively.

That 2015 defense was something else. 23.5 sacks from Dunlap and Atkins.

The '05 defense had 15 interceptions between O'Neal and I forgot who the safety was (Nelson?). Come Fly With Deltha, was the Broncos battlecry.

That's easy to say in retrospect, but at the moment, most of those games were meaningful. I wouldn't call the backup QB keeping the team afloat "fools gold", far from it as Browning was thought to be an incompetent unknown when he was forced into the starting role.
