Not a great half of football, but I also remember 1988. After losing 41-6 to the Oilers and then struggling to beat the 7-9 Redskins to end the season, John Madden was emphatic that they were not a Super Bowl caliber team. We went on to make the SB.
I'm not saying this team will do the same, and I do have serious doubts about any Marvin led team in the postseason, the optimistic half of me says anything is possible if they can find a way to win that 1st playoff game. While I'm somewhat cynical, I'm also still hopeful.
