Yup. A linebackers coach has no business being out their with the AT staff.
Just way too many non football play/flags that entire game. Sad.
NFL should suspend these refs. absolute larceny,,,,

Leading with your crown is always to be a 15 yard penalty with the rules change.

Actually your link supports what EVERONE (including Periera) is saying. It was a PF. Officials screwed up BADLY on that one. Shazier launched with the crown of the helmet and Gio was outside the tackle box.

Dude thats what I was saying. I was making an argument for why it was a penalty. The announcers tried to play it off because "he was a runner"

What the rule changes: A 15-yard penalty will be called if a runner or a tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players clearly are outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle-to-tackle and from 3 yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team's end line). Incidental contact by the helmet of a runner or a tackler against an opponent would not be deemed a foul.
I misunderstood you. It seemed to me you said it was not a penalty. My bad.

always a penalty (eg if youre a runner in the tackle box)

If they threw the flag on Porter for being there/inciting things, it would have been a 63-65 yard FG or so. Heck, even if they threw offsetting it would still have been like 48-50 in the rain.
