Coming home to Franklin next week
#1
to see family but am also catching a couple bands I've been wanting to catch live at JD Legends

Tyler Bryant

with the

Georgia Thunderbolts warming up.

Doubt anybody even knows these bands but can anybody tell what JD Legends is like ?

Grew up a stone throw away from the place but it was just a bowling alley then and have not been back in years.

Earlier this year I had to take my son to a pediatric specialist in Washington Township. It was so close to Franklin that I took him by he house where I grew up. I was in Franklin in 2001 for my 20 year high school reunion, but I had not been by that house in over 30 years.

It seemed smaller than when I grew up there.

BTW sorry to hijack your thread. I don't know anything about JD Legends, but I know the bowling alley you are talking about.

Don't think there was much to hijack going on lol.

I lived in the 2nd house on left on Beam Drive coming down from bowling alley.  There was a big field right before the houses on left which turned into apartments after we moved. Had the park right behind house and you're correct, they look much smaller than memory recalls. Really has been quite a few years for me too. Because most of my Franklin family moved to Florida since and the family left up there still live in Miamisburg, Germantown, and West Carrolton.

Will be spending the majority of trip in Miamisburg but looking forward to seeing Franklin again. Used to sled ride down the hill and into the parking lot of where JD Legends is now too. Will probably be around some old friends while there but would not recognize each other even if seeing. Moved to Louisville in the early 70's when only 9 years old and in 4th grade.

But not before playing for the undefeated American Legion football team with Allen Wenglikowski (not positive on spelling) and another great RB whose last name was King lol. They bribed us at Legion, free food and drinks if we won and only drinks if we lost.

My Uncles Franklin basketball scoring records were which held since the late 50's were just broken by Luke Kennard at High School.

Memories from the small town life, the good old days. The only thing that will be missing is the A&W, Chicken Delight, Burger Chef, and Star pizza lol.

After my first stint in the Army (1988) I worked at Middletown Journal as a district manager. Franklin, Carlisle, and Sprinboro was my district. The place you speak of was still a bowling alley then, but they did have a place going out toward Springboro that was a club that had some acts.

It seems Keith Whitley was scheduled to come there..

Big Keith Whitley fan and wish I would have caught him live.

My father funeral was in Middletown in 09 per him living on Germantown/ Middletown line on Thomas Rd. Had several Uncles work at Armco steel there and another Uncle is in the Miami (Oxford) basketball Hall of Fame there and just a few years back got some sort of statewide award or induction.

Became Athletic Director at Central Florida in 60's and 70's after playing career until he brought them into division 1. Probably 80's as well. Then became Dean of Education and later just board member.  Finally retired, so know Middletown very well too. Will be getting a Swiss steak dinner at Dads restaurant if still open this weekend. lol

Thanks for making me reminisce.
