Ronda Rousey: "Don't Cry"
#41
(08-05-2015, 10:38 AM)djs7685 Wrote: Of course Werdum isn't cutting his legs off to fight Aldo, but that's where the hypotheticals come into an actual P4P list. Would Aldo's skillset be able to hang with Werdum if they weighed the exact same amount? I don't think so personally, but I'm sure there can be arguments for both sides and a good debate could come of it.

There's no real good argument that Ronda belongs with the top dogs of the P4P rankings. There isn't a parallel universe where she has the skillset to beat average male fighters at BW already, let alone the current P4P greats.

Ronda belongs in the same rankings as male MMA fighters in the same sense that Lisa Leslie deserved to be on the list of best basketball players when she was a star in the WNBA.

Isn't Ronda being one of, possibly THE best women's fighter enough for her huge supporters? Why does she need to be on a P4P list to make some happy? She doesn't belong.

Basically P4P lists in MMA don't mean a whole lot, like popularity contests. Its not a true measure of skill, but then on the other hand something can be said if your are considered the P4P best. They just don't throw that title around loosely.

Who doesn't? I hope you don't mean the UFC and/or Dana White, because he throws bullshit around constantly.

I'm not going to claim it isn't genius marketing, don't get me wrong. He is the KING of hype, he'll tell you that the best fighter in the world sucks (he has) and he'll overhype whatever sells. He's a genius because he knows the college frat guys wearing Tap Out shirts and screaming at the TVs at Buffalo Wild Wings every Saturday night will eat his schtick right up.

Again, genius business man, but let's not act like he doesn't throw around titles like that loosely. Ronda is popular as hell right now. Joe Rogan called her a "mythical creature" for ****'s sake. DW will give her a brand new title and rankings list just to make her look better if he needs to. The UFC is a hype machine whether you will admit it or not.

Oh, and BTW, Ronda isn't even the P4P best according to the UFC, so I don't know where you're getting your line that she's #1 P4P anyway. Not even the great hype machine has her on top.

Can't say that I blame her, honestly. Even a catchweight fight at 140 would involve Rousey moving up, and I would never move up in weight class to fight somebody that's been popped for anabolic steroids. You can argue that it's only been once, but we all know that with the multiple different ways to beat the test, it is highly likely that she has used them habitually for quite a while, and may still be on them. Her claims that she can't easily cut to 135 only strengthen that perception.

From UFC's end, a catchweight fight gives them a big number, hypothetically. However, if Cyborg wins, Rousey loses a lot of drawing power, appearing to be a total paper champion with UFC's 135 belt. The only way a catchweight fight makes any sense for them is if somebody can take the belt from Rousey beforehand.

Maybe now she won't be such a wench and refuse to shake her opponents hand when a match is over.

I was a fan until recently when i saw how she acted after a couple fights.

I love to see a bully get their ass kicked.

Yeah I told the wife beforehand Ronda was going to lose.  You could tell she was just getting too cocky. Then she came out and tried to beat Holm at her own game.  Ronda thinking she has to prove to the world she's the best fighter standing up as well as on the ground ultimately did her in.  If Ronda entered that fight respecting Holly's striking skills and game planned to get Holly on the ground then this is a much closer match.  Holly game planned to defend Ronda's ground game and ultimately why she had a chance. Ronda didn't take her down until after Holly had landed some huge blows so I believe that helped Holly defend any submission attempt.  I would like to see a rematch.

I had a feeling she would lose as soon as I read a quote where she said something about 'disappearing for a while' after this fight. Really seems like she's either tired of fighting or of fame.

I'm tired of her...  I'm ready for the next novelty.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

Maybe she ought to retire and do porn? She'd be a good dominatrix.

I saw Rousey BEFORE the fight claiming that Holly had the skills to "take my place when I leave."

I think she want to be a personality/movie star instead of a fighter.

My thoughts exactly.

I mean, if you gave me a choice of either A) Get beat up and beat up people for a living or B) Make a living through mediocre acting ability and being a "personality..."

Not a tough decision.

Shes smart, she sees theres more money to be made in Hollywood, and he stock is high right now...

I find it funny that Cyborg is still calling her out, but yet she wont make a move to 135. Sorry Cyborg but no one wants to fight a juice head like yourself.
