Who is?

That said, I’m in favor of Raimann over Penning as I feel that Penning will be a penalty machine with his hand placement. I think Raimann has a better future and more upside, but I don’t know that he’s a RT.

I feel like if they want to draft OL, they draft Zion Johnson. I think he starts day 1 and immediately upgraded the inside significantly. I think if they want to draft RT for the future they take a look at Abraham Lucas. I think he will be available late 2, maybe in the 3rd, but I think his stock will rise as this process goes. Just a natural fit at RT and no moves for either of these guys.

The biggest problem i have with this scenario is that we're getting younger, less experienced people on the line instead of vets unless you plan on a vet to hold the spot to give Lucas a redshirt. You also have to think they are going to pigeonhole Carmen on one spot this year, for better or worse.

Edit. I just now saw you said RT of the future. Then my question goes, what will we do with the CB room? That needs some youth and talent too.

It’s hypothetical. I don’t know how many Cbs are good enough to draft at 2. You can also stay young if you sign guys in there 20s, but if a DB is there at 1 or 2 sure. The Bengals are more likely to get contribution from OL or secondary from the draft this year.

Honestly unless you can afford like a Chavarious Ward from KC or the OL value is just too good, I feel better buying the OL and drafting the top rated CB in the draft. Allows us to get younger and replenish our D talent with the cheaper prospects to keep the future money for the future O contracts.

Who do you think will be a steal at any pick from rd 2 on? I say for me, Rasheed Walker. I think (based on watching the PSU/Michigan tape due to Hutch and Ojabo) he had great feet and just needs some technique work. Beat a few times but seemed to hold his own well imo. I think if you can get an iOL or have the whole OL built through FA, take him 2nd or 3rd and get him prepared to replace Williams possibly.

Not sure why you would get those vibes, he's started for two years and was a former tight end.  He was also the highest graded LT in the country by PFF (take that for what you will).  Either ways, he's actually played at a high level in college, something Ced never did.

Maybe I just hear athletic, short arms and weak conference so I project project (that seems weird to write) and projects in the first round at OT screams Ced to me.

If he was such a good pass rusher, I'd expect more.

I know all about Winfrey too, but I just wouldn't take a DL over DB at 31 unless it's Leal.
I have Winfrey as an early-mid 2nd. Not gonna reach for him at 31 if there's a DB or OL that I like better.

Here is what Daniel Jeremiah had so say about Wyatt in his latest top 50. Ranked 29th

Quote:Wyatt is a thick/square defensive tackle with excellent quickness. He flashes some big-time ability as a pass rusher, getting off the ball with nice burst and leverage. He has collected pressures/sacks with quick arm-overs, nifty spins and power. He is really dynamic when he changes directions, crossing the face of his opponent. His stats don't jump off the page, but that was more the result of all the talent around him on Georgia's defense. Against the run, he keeps a low pad level and controls the point of attack. He has excellent range. Wyatt has tremendous upside and could emerge as the top interior lineman in this class.

If you just go and watch Davonte Wyatt's tape you see an advanced interior defensive tackle that does alot of different things.

I think the big difference for me is that he's actually performed at a high level in college.  Picking 31 you kinda get what's left over.

I like the fact that he used to be a tight end.  Those guys seem to have pretty good athleticism when they move over to tackle.

I mean thats fair but we're kinda looping back around with the assessment for the athleticism.

I can see the argument for him but I ask you this, do you trust our coaches with projects on the OL right now with JoeyB? Especially in round 1? Still plenty of talent as long as you don't pigeonhole yourself to OT or bust.

Then again, this might be all moot if someone like Green or Z. Johnson is there as I feel they are better (with Green able to go outside). Abraham, NPF in rd 2 is much more tolerable to take that project considering you're taking a top talent which can help your team now

Tyler Linderbaum gives me pause. Folks around here love the kid, but I fear he may be too small for what we line up against in the AFC North. Dude's about 30 pounds lighter than our current pivot.

Some people don't want him because of one rep in the senior bowl. I want him because of one rep at the 18 second mark in this vid, and because of unteachable raw physical traits.

OMG he's got a punch like Sonny Liston.

Or for you younger guys, Mike Tyson.

For you wet behind the ears young pups, Conor McGregor.  If Conor weighed 387.

Would not be happy with Raimann or Faalale. Raiman is a one year wonder who is raw, Faalale cannot get low and is overrated
simply cause of his size, strength and athleticism. I don't know if Faalale can be taught to be a great OT in the pros, if he can be
taught to stay low though he could be great so I wouldn't hate him in the 2nd, just think he is a gamble at 31 big time.

If we go OL at 31, I want either Tyler Smith or Zion Johnson. These guys could be great Guards right off the bat. Tyler Smith
plays a little nasty at times.

Guys I really like in round 2? I will go with Salyer the Guard out of Georgia, also plays nasty like Tyler Smith.

None OL guys? Travis Jones DT out of UCONN, big, athletic DT that can rush the passer and stop the run.

So Nate, who do you like better? Winfrey at 31 or TJ at 63?

Really like Winfrey but I think Travis could be the bigger steal, depends on how it goes.

I think I like Winfrey/Salyer a lot but Tyler Smith/Travis Jones also sounds great. Good question WVUHomer, damn lol

I keep hearing about Smith from Tulsa, even for 1st round, but he scares be for a starter due to college competition.

I heard someone talking about Raimann falling after the Senior Bowl because he dealt with speed issues over his outside shoulder, but also raved about his strength and potential.  The guest (forget who it was now) mentioned him as a potentially great GUARD because of his strength and nastiness, but it would protect that issue that he may suffer with as a tackle, but does offer some dual position flexibility.

That being said, the one position I am not drafting and hoping to get a starter is RT.  I could still draft a tackle to develop, but the biggest (or most important spend) has to be a RT (after getting Bates done...and I hope it isn't the tag).

I don't have a specific guy in mind right now, but it seems the top positions in the draft are at OT, LB, WR, and DE.

The one thing I would think the Bengals need the least at #31 would be a LB.  You could even make an argument for a WR, as their depth beyond the big three is a massive drop off.  OT is obviously a huge need.  DE would likely be my top choice. I think any FA DE will cost too much.  You would have five year rights to them (being a first rounder), and even with Ossai coming back, I think a pass rusher helps this defense more than just about any position.

CB is also an obvious possibility, with Waynes likely gone.  Although I think CB is very top heavy in this draft and the top guys will be long gone.

My steal would be Daniel Fa'Allele (sp?).  There will be lots of people against him for his weaknesses, but I see that mountain as a unique talent.  I would love that guy as a developmental RT.  As an extra tackle right now, short yardage problems would be gone.  As a former rugby player (!), I would have fun lining him up at Fullback as well.  Hilarious.

Yeah, but he sure seems solid in his play and plays nasty. Lack of top competition is always the question though.

Same thing with Raimann who also has lack of experience playing OT.

Liking Zion and Salyer more and more and us getting an OT in FA more than just 2 Guards.

Being a true Guard coming into the NFL is an easier transition than starting at OT right off the bat. Don't want this with Raimann.

Interesting thought on Raimann playing Guard, hadn't heard that yet. I like both Raimann and Faalale's potential but they
are both just so raw, I wouldn't gamble on them at 31. Maybe if we traded back I would take one of them. I just don't like
how Faalale plays so upright, low man wins. He can get low though look out!

Also if we get a Corner like Andrew Booth or McCreary I would also be happy if the FA is good in taking care of the OL.

Always love a pass rusher too like Mafe out of Minnesota. Played great at the Senior Bowl. Ossai coming back!Happy

Sam Williams DE Ole Miss  6'4 265 4.49 speed deadlifts 750 can play anywhere from a 3T to a wide nine. 12.5 sacks last yr with 4 FF. Currently going in the 3rd. More of a pass rush specialist early on which is ok for us. I like him and I like Cameron Thomas  6'5 264 DE   San Diego St. real well too. He is a 1st/2nd rounder He had 21 sacks in 3 years and last year he had 11.5.

You're welcome. I was looking for longer videos of both but that was the best I could find at the moment.
