Welcome TE Hayden Hurst

Oh, well that more than I thought. Not to beat a dead horse but this could have waited until we saw if we could get Collins or Tretter...

Seems a little steep, but the Bengals write good contracts. Hopefully the base is a little less and the $6 MIL includes some performance clauses.

You want to bet?

Better athlete, better receiver, better football player...  will have better stats.

Whats the wager?

Joey B is going to make Hurst money for FA next year.

I'll make another Hot Take.... Bengals will extend Hurst...

Hurst for 1yr/$3.5m is a great signing. I like that a whole lot more than teams throwing $8-10m/yr at guys with basically the same or less production.

When you have Chase/Higgins/Boyd, there's no need to drop big $ on a mediocre TE. Good move.

Hopefully we draft one in the 2nd or 3rd.

Basically, anyone who was OK with Uzi as TE1 should be content with Hurst as TE1.

The Bengals were never going to spend big on a TE and that's why they let Uzomah walk.  TE is not a big part of the passing offense when you have Boyd, Higgins, and Chase.

Hurst is good value low risk signing especially considering after Uzomah left the next TE on the depth chart was Sample.

Probably. Gronk was just throwing out some bait in case his homie actually retired.

What a bargain. For reference, that's a little less than what the Jets will pay Uzi this year.

Then they're paying him $9.5 million in the following 2 years. Ugly deal that we were wise to avoid with Joey B and others coming up.

Thinking Bengals still would have taken Chase since Burrow wanted him even if Pitts fell.

I’m not sure that Hurst isn’t more of a vertical threat. I think it’s a wash but C J I’ll sure miss.

Hurst has 12 TD’s in 57 games to Uzomah’s 13 TD’s in 79 games. And he won’t be behind Mark Andrews or Kyle Pitts here. I wanted Everett, but this is a solid pickup. Especially for that money.

Good signing at 3.5 million which saves 4.5 from what we would have had to pay CJ to use toward O-line or CB.

Think it's a great fit.

It's definitely a wash.

If Hurst was a Bengal last season and Uzi was a crummy Falcon, the deals would be flip flopped.

well stats and play have not shown it of late.. also CJ is a much better blocker.. you want to bet that ? he is a 1 year gap player most likely, hopefully we draft a decent TE this year..
