They ask just horrible, dumb, stupid questions.
One guy asked Joe Burrow today if "he was aware that he threw 3 interceptions against the Browns in the Red Zone."
Another reporter asked Ted Karras "what did the OL do so bad to fail in the first meeting against the Browns?"
It's not just today or this is some kind of an outlier, I swear our reporters ask the worst/dumbest questions ever on a week-by-week basis. Hell, the one main writer for the Bengals is barely capable of not writing a run on sentence.
I am sorry to complain, but it's almost embarrassing when the players answer some of these questions. They give the look of like "are you kidding me" when they actually do answer.

Yeah, Hobson has needed an editor, or at least someone to proofread for him, for years.

Why are these horrible, dumb, stupid questions?
To me, those questions might come off as frustrating, but I think those are genuine questions to ask to see if they were able to identify anything that caused the team to lose to the Browns the last time.
Maybe if the bolded was asked in a different way like, "What are some things you might do differently this time against the Browns?" it might come off better, but I think the goal of the question is still the same.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

The Bengals writers are lame but after the performance against the Browns earlier, you've got expect some questioning.
Just got to rip that monkey off their back and shut them up.

I think Jay Morrison and Paul Dehner are solid. Their podcast great.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

There is Nothing wrong with the question to Ted Karras. Also, not really anything wrong with the question to Joe. I believe they mentioned he has 5 turnovers in the Redzone and 3 to the browns, so gaining insight to why so many. I believe you’re overthinking it.

I really like Paul Dehner Jr, Jay Morrison, James Rapien, Joe Goodberry and Jake Liscow (granted, Joe and Jake aren't beat reporters, just podcasters).

Both questions are fine. The RZ question is trying to prod into what is it specifically the Browns are doing that gives Burrow issues. The Karras question similarly they are trying to dig up a response around continuity I am guessing. With them not playing together in the preseason, my guess is they are looking for confirmation from within that it was likely a problem that is now smoothing out.

Nah, when they ask his players those type of questions, Zac needs to pull a Gundy.
Well, after he actually turns 40.

Look i loved Joe Nuxhall but he was a total homer but Marty was not a homer and make pointed observations and in the case of a writer, I don;t want a homer there either, nothing wrong with those questions, though i might add a bit more context like, was there something the Browns did that surprised in the Red Zone, or to Karras, what has changed since the bad performance against the Browns...
Because we are winning does not mean you can;t ask something that might be a negative but maybe word it a bit better is all

“Butch” needs a full page for what should be a paragraph. And how has he not lost that Boston accent after living in Cincinnati for fifty years?

Rapien is probably my favorite person that covers the Bengals.

I feel the same way about Rapien.....It takes him a novella to say what could be said in a sentence. I get the feeling he likes the sound of his own voice. Can't watch him.
I know Lapham is beloved around here, but can he possibly throw any more softballs to players in the locker room?
The rest? All looking for a controversy where there aren't any. Recent examples...
-asking Mixon if he supports Perine....(seriously? how stupid is that?)
-asking Higgins if he will accept a reduced roll since Chase is back?
-asking Wilcox if he's glad to get an expanded roll as a TE now that Hurst is out?
Asking Joe B....
-are you comparable to Manning or Brady? (answer..."I'm Joe)
-are you as good as you can possibly be? (answer..."no")
-are you out partying during your off time? (answer..."I watch tape and TV and workout")
-who do you like throwing to more? (answer...."we have great receivers")
Burrow has learned that the more stock the answer, the less the media has to churn...like they did with the watches he gave out last year "only" being Casios, or if his "bling" was real. Stupid questions. Unfortunately, he has to duck them now instead of just being who he really is because of stupid questions.
All the answers above are paraphrased, but the jest is the same. All trying to get players to diss on their other team mates.

I like Lap on the radio but can't stand him as an interviewer. He asks some dumbaaaaaass questions. I think the players get annoyed to shit with him.
I remember one time a couple years ago (when the Bengals had like 2 wins the season) he asked ZT how his kids were fairing in school with all the losing going on. I was like....did he seriously just ask that?

Joe always says the same thing when they ask him what he does in his off time. Watches football or tv, or plays video games. May not be the most exciting QB for Olivia to date, but it keeps him out of trouble. I'm glad he's sort of a shut in. Like when he hosted Collins at his house, he mentioned he had been to Ruby's the night before and didn't want to go out again. I figure if I had his money and a steak named after me, I'd be eating at Ruby's 5 nights a week.

Its not healthy to eat at Ruby's every night. Joe has said he has a personal chef that prepares his organic, mostly vegetarian meals

Yea, he's great. I first heard him when he was the producer for Mo Egger (who also is good) who I listened to on my drive home every day before the pandemic made me work from home full time. Despite being the producer, Mo just let James kind of own the Bengals segments and he always did a great job.
He left Mo's show when he got a job up in Cleveland covering the Guardians and Cavs (I think he also did the Browns, but not sure), which bummed me out, but I was super excited when he left that job and joined the Locked On Bengals podcast when Joe Goodberry retired. Then he started Cincinnati Bengals Talk, which has really great segments, one of them by Joe Goodberry haha.
I also like Dave Lapham, but not on the scale of the others I listed.
