Just wanted to say the following here:
If one accepts that Mixon & Jonah are staying (I think they are) and that Irv Smith is Hurst's replacement (as it now looks like), then EVERY pick is a depth piece, except possible punter.
I rated our needs thusly coming in
1. TE1 (I viewed Irv as a TE2 and Sample as TE3). (no help yet, OK with passing on Mayer/Kraft for Murphy/Turner), but Washington in Rd 3 stung, medicals or no.
2. Pass rush outside (Murphy)
3. Pass rush interior (not directly but Murphy helps some, Kancey/Benton gone)
4. CB depth/future starter (Turner)
5. RB2/RB1 if Mixon goes (Bijan/Gubbs went early, OK with passing afterwards)
6. IOL depth (the guys I liked wwre gonexwhen we picked, though Torrence was close)
7. WR speed/depth (Rd1 gone, Hyatt there in Rd2 but Turner better)
8. DT depth (Ika made sense to me Rd 3)
9. S depth (Battle)
10. Punter (always gonna be late)
11. QB2 (no way early).
---------------------
Having a night to sleep on Day 2. I like the Turner pick a LOT more. He is better in coverage than I thought (by a lot). I was in on Forbes, I am OK with his size.
Names for today:
1) TE: Kuntz, Whyle, Allen, Mallory
2) Ext rush: no need (Murphy)
3) Int Rush: Brooks, Adebewore
4) CB depth: Trice, Rush, Ringo, Phillips, Bennett (never have enough)
5) RB: Abanikanda, Johnson, McBride, Brown, Mitchell, Gonzalez
6) IOL: Wypler, Zavala, Daniels, McClendon, Gaines
7) WR: Scott, Jones, Washington, Iosivas, Bell, Bryce-Wheaton, Landers
8) NT depth: no idea (punt)
9) S depth: no need (Battle)
10) Punter: Korsak, Turk, Baringer (late or UDFA)
11) QB: get a vet
12) OT: D. Jones (draft plus weight watchers!)
4th: Wypler, Scott, Jones, Washington, Abanikanda, Johnson, Adebewore, Brooks, D. Jones, Kuntz, Zavala, Ringo, Phillips, Trice, Rush, Whyle.

Steelers pundits hated the Benton pick. Seems to be polarizing.

RD5: KEONDRE COLBURN

RD7: MALIK KNOWLES
Mallory, Whyle, Kuntz, or Allen. One of them should be there.
I suspect they go the second RD6 pick to get a punter, if available, to try and upgrade that position. Maybe Roschon Johnson at RB in 4th because he can pass protect, play special teams, and maybe get that 3rd and 1 yard that Mixon never seemed to be able to get.
I don't think they go defense again this draft. It's been a boat load of defensive players the last two drafts.

I’m a fan of the Miami TE, Mallory. What position do you all think we go in the fourth? I think RB.

Yes Pretty much but my point is it’s always an element

The lack of speed out of the backfield on this team is really starting to concern me.

Over/under on how many DBs they draft today? I say they draft 3 more with a punter somewhere
I mean, one more CB is possible. Ringo & Phillips still on the board. Trice & Bennett. Though I will pat myself on the backon Ringo. Told ya'll he was a high bust guy. No way at #28. The NFL has spoken. We did lose Apple & Flowers ATM
They will take BPA amongst TE, RB, WR, IOL, DT, NT, CB.

In regards to not taking Darnell Washington.
Players the Bengals selected that "we couldn't believe were there that late" based on mock drafts since 2010:
Brandon Ghee
Dontay Moch
Devon Still
Brandon Thompson
Orson Charles
PJ Dawson
Josh Shaw
Derron Smith
Andrew Billings
Jordan Willis
Malik Jefferson
We basically stopped doing it in 2018.
Just sayin'.

Yep! Not to mention Mixon is not starter quality.. No RB where you can have a drinking game every game on him missing the hole and/or going down on first contact is starting material.

I really like your list. I would add Keondre Coburn in for NT and Dante Stills for interior pass rush.
Moreno Cropper and Josh Vann as late round slot receivers and Aiden O’Connell and DTR as back up QB.
I also wouldn’t mind Deuce Vaughn late. I know, I know he’s tiny. Lol

I agree. This is a nice list. However, I don't think they'll double up on TE or WR, as they love these guys on ST and there just isn't MUCH room for two low draft TE/WR when they like the guys they already have on ST.
Drafting 2 RB's this late I think would spell the end of Mixon for sure. Why? Because I'm getting the building feeling that the Bengals are less interested in RB a a runner first thing. I think they want a complete back in all three phases with a de-emphasis on the ground yards. Why? Because Perine showed them that even a backup can get yards with our line, and with him in on 3rd down it wasn't dead giveaway as to what we were going to do. We don't need a runner to be a stud on the ground. We need them to be a well rounded weapons in all three phases and perhaps you can get two of those on day 2.

From what I've seen from Lions fans is that he has some of the worst vision since Trent Richardson and is ALWAYS injured. He just has some big splash plays to make him look better than he is.
At best we get a splash play RB that probably plays under 6 games a season, may be worth a 5th-6th as a flyer but wouldn't be overly excited.

Irv Smith is a weapon. It won't surprise me if he gets somewhere around 6-8 TDs this season. I think many on here are selling him short and will be doing a 180 come the regular season.

It's running back day. Can the Bengals find that elusive day 3 running back that can push Mixon?

I think most people think he's a good player just the injury concerns scare people.

I think TE or RB.
Irv Smith is quite short for a TE (6'2") and not sure what we get out of him. Competition at that spot, and someone for two-TE sets, would be valuable.
And regarding RB, the Bengals lost RB2 and Mixon is a liability in pass pro. Not to mention our RBs last year were frustrating when we had 3rd and short because they couldn't move defenders the yard needed.
There are still RBs and TEs available who could contribute on special teams and maybe give some competition for playing time. Maybe hit on someone like KC did with Pacheco.

It's a valid point and is definitely troublesome. Ts, if he stays healthy, he's going to contribute.

Yes it would spell the end. But it would leave a huge inexperience hole in the running back room. It’s unlikely. Rumors Detroit is moving on from Swift.
