The Thursday night debacle was the final straw, the Chargers fire Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco.
I could see someone like Brian Callahan being interviewed for this spot.

Interesting. That loss last night was beyond embarrassing. I'm not entirely sold that Callahan offers a lot to our organization. Maybe he does, IDK. I would much rather see him go than Lou.

With the protection of offense, teams will start hitting near 70 points more often. This isn't something crazy that has just happened twice this season. It's by design. The continued handcuffing of defense will lead to these scores becoming ever more frequent, and we'll soon have to adjust what we consider defensive failure. Hold them to 50!

Staley should of been fired a while back, that guy seemed like he wanted to lose games he was so bad in clutch situations in big
games the Chargers needed to win. Lou isn't going anywhere pretty damn sure, the Defense hasn't looked bad lately but overall
it has been a poor season for the Defense. Poor tackling and such. Happy they are looking much better but if Lou couldn't get a
HC position after last year, I highly doubt he gets one after this year.
Callahan on the other hand sounds very smart when he talks and is young and is an Offensive mind which are the in thing now.

Two of the raiders touchdowns were returns and 4 other TDs were setup by turnovers that made very short fields.
Defense contributed as much or more to the final score than the raiders offense.

Thats what Richard Sherman said at half time, "get him an Uber X and shuttle him off"
That was plain sad performance by a team with a buttload of talent
I live in LA and the seats for LAC games are always filled with opposing team fans more than LAC fans. Now after this, not sure where they go
I really thought they should have moved to Anaheim which would have allowed them to retain their loyal SD fan base and fill a thirsty Orange County, CA Market

I wasn't able to watch the game myself, so thanks for this Stewy.

Yeah, LA fans are fickle. Even when the Rams went to the SB and played us their fans didn't show up well. Preferred the Chargers
in San Diego. Also so true about Staley and how he still couldn't win with all that talent. I would of wanted him gone years ago if I
was a Bolts fan.

Staley was a bit of an 'experimental' HC to begin with. It's been rather obvious that he was in over his head at this point in his coaching career. He had only been coaching in the NFL since 2017. He got his footing as a LB coach and had only one year experience at the coordinator level. Here in the day and age of "we want results, now", he didn't get the likely necessary 5 years to fully grow into the role of HC.
So, while it's unfortunate for Staley right now, chances are that he'll land a DC job and continue to build his resume and skill set. We may see him get another shot 3-4 years down the road with a different team. I know that the trend is for 'young minds' in the NFL, but sometimes it's necessary to allow those young minds to fully mature in their roles. Just look at our own example here with the Bengals. Many were ready to sack Zac after Burrow got injured his rookie year, and for some even this year before what appeared to be a change in offensive direction. Taylor continues to evolve as a coach here with the Bengals, and to his benefit the ownership likely planned for some developmental hiccups along the way. Kind of makes me wonder how we'll view Zac Taylor 5 years from today?
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I thought Callahan because his work with top QBs might be attractive for a team with a very good but not yet great Justin Herbert. Their defense has been in shambles but Staley was supposedly a defensive guru so they might not go that direction again otherwise Lou might be a good candidate.
I do, however, have a feeling they go for an older more mature coach...maybe a second-timer.

From listening to calls on NFL radio, it seems that the Charger fan base wants an offensive minded coach. Offense has been the Chargers identity for pretty much, forever.

I was surprised he survived their Bye week. At that point my thought was they did not feel anyone on the staff could handle taking over, so he would be relieved on Black Monday.
