Rough day overall to lose Reader and Fuller and be stuck with Becton

We'll be fine. Tart is a NT and Rankins addresses a gap at 3T we've suffered with for 2 years. People need to relax and stop freaking. We improved so far in a lot of key areas. Stone and Bell directly speak to the alignment, dumb play and communication issues that caused the VAST majority of the defensive problems. Rankins gives us interior pass rush which we haven't had since Ogunjobi. Tart is a NT and will be just fine in his role. Moss directly addresses Mixon's drawbacks of being way too easy to tackle and poor pass protection and even Gesicki adds a mismatch dimension at slot.

I'm assuming the Reader deal came down, as usual, to guaranteed money. As a 30-year DT, Reader wants to protect himself. The Bengals see a 30-year-old DT, while extremely productive when he plays, missed playing for what amounts to 1/3rd of his contract. He is coming off a serious leg injury. They didn't want a lot of dead money if he got hurt again or couldn't play at the same level

I love DJ, but in this case I can easily see both sides

Don't look at the guaranteed money he received..

Reports are they are closing in on a deal with Becton who doesn't want to play RT to play RT. Should be finalized tonight.

Tart is a big downgrade from Reader.

Looks like Armstead to JAX.

Bechton is a downgrade from….Jonah Williams.

We’ve not improved ourselves. Overall, kind of a push.

Armstead if a terrific player. and complete DT. -- both pressure on the QB and good at stopping the run A few days ago the Bengals were listed among the teams interested in him, but he must have been too expensive for them, perhaps too much guaranteed money.

Our O line will suck, again. What’s the purpose of keeping tee 1 year? We’re not winning a chip with this team. I don’t care what the draft produces.

Why don't you do us a favor and join the guys threatening to turn in their fan cards.

Not that this is a thing anymore but

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/commanders-trading-sam-howell-to-seahawks

A 3rd and a 5th while sending a 4th and 6th. Some compared him to what we could have gotten for Browning.

This is just dumb.  If we're signing him to play RT, then he knows he's playing RT and must be fine with it.  He, his agent and our O aren't going to go through this process without asking the key question "Are you ok with playing RT here when you weren't fine with it in New York?"

Really it seems some of you think our FO just bounces of walls and only sign guys when they get dizzy and trip over them.

People like to freak shows their "passion" to those around them and their serious fanhood.

The "trust them" crowd of 2023 offseason doesn't really move the needle for me this offseason.

I don’t see these reports.

Yep. Remember in NY he had to deal with constantly changing systems and QBs (including Zack Wilson who has zero pocket awareness).

So yall just going to ignore his own words about playing RT? And act like folks made that up. Ok.

Obviously he'll take a job to get paid, but most know that doesn't really change your position or passion. It just means you are working a job and getting paid (so that's good) at a job you don't want. And we all know those kind of coworkers.

Wondering how this FA is going. Just look no further than the calls to sign Becton and Tart....

Overall tho the FA has been OK. But it hasn't really moved the needle any for people. Not like you'd think it would have for a team with 70m in cap space. The final year with that kind of wiggle room.

None of our signings were even worthy more than 2 year deal. No long term pieces.

To be fair that was a couple years ago. Before he came in to this last training camp in the best shape of his career. And had a season where he started the most games of his career. And even started the year at RT until Duane Brown got hurt and then moved to LT.

And maybe he has matured from early 20 something to the wise old age of mid 20 something.

Thanks for the common sense Stewy. Of course Becton is willing to play RT for us now or he wouldn't even be considered.

It also is a sign that his knee feels fine as that was the reason he didn't want to play RT in the first place, it hurt his knee rather than
playing at another position. So makes me feel better about Becton if we do sign him, he was the 12th overall pick 3 years ago and his
rookie season under Pollack he had a mid 70's rating that year before getting new coaches and getting knee injuries.

If Becton is over the knee problems yah never know, but I am not comfortable with him starting yet for damn sure and we need to
Draft a RT at 18. Hoping for Fuaga.

Armstead officially gone.

We’ll see what happens in the draft.

This offseason is a C right now, at best.

People say “dress for the job you want.”

This franchise doesn’t look like one that’s serious about winning a Super Bowl.
