***2024 NFL DRAFT THREAD***
Hill isn't going anywhere. He's the other half of the 3T rotation with Rankins. Jenkins and Jackson are the other side of the DT room. They're doing an IDL overhaul.

You missed the $7.5MIL part of the post?

I think a lot of us have been begging for this for a few years. The young ones drafted in the secondary need to step up this year, they've invested quite a bit of draft capital there the last few years. It's all a crapshoot, but I like the way this staff thinks.

I guess I was thinking they left plenty of cap for that, and FA is picked clean.

We’ll see. Could happen but I like hill as a rotational DT.

I like having depth so guys don’t wear down.

They won't rely on 2 rookies Year 1.

Yes, that's what made Zims units good, and the rotation in 2021 helped get them to the Super Bowl.

Crazy, got my guy McKinnley on top of Amarius. Love these two and love Kris Jenkins as a pass rusher/run stopper.

As with most weirded out a bit with Jermaine Burton and his ways, but Zac must know him and of course Housh does.

Will have faith that they know what's up with Burton as he is undeniably a first round talent. Great route runner, great quicks, great hands.

The coaches and FO surely did not ignore our weaknesses from last year. The trenches all the way and get physical as can be.

Want Braelon Allen tomorrow if he is not taken or Estime.

I thought it was absolutely irrelevant because we have 23M in cap space we are not spending.

I'd bet we keep the best players.  Zac Carter cant be feeling to confident tonight.

I think you are 1000% correct.

In Taylor's 5 years played we have drafted 2 Pro Bowlers (both were top-5 picks) and 0 1st Team All-Pros.

The only player left from Zac's first draft is 2nd round blocking TE Drew Sample.
The only guys from Day 3 in those 5 years that started the majority of at least 1 season are McPherson, Robbins, M Jordan, and Volson. Two specialists and two LGs that can't pass block..

We have been terrible drafters in the Zac era, we just got a couple real easy top-5 layups.

Not a fan of the last two picks. I'd rather be wrong for the record.....Burton seems like he has major problems with decision making. Jackson doesn't seem to offer much against the pass. I'm going to pose two logic problems:

1. IF you have a history of being burned by "character concern" players who make your Super Bowl aspirations go down in flames THEN do you:
A. Stop drafting character concerns
B. Keep doing the same thing over and over again

2. IF you are constructing a defense to defeat the best offenses in the league THEN do you:
A. Take players who may be able to affect or neutralize players like Pat Mahomes and Joe Burrow
B. Take players who may be able to affect or neutralize players like Isaiah Pacheco and Chase Brown

Jenkins is not a pass rusher.  Had the lowest pass rush win rate of every DT projected to go in the Top 5 rounds, but had the best run stop win rate of all DTs.  He's also Top 6 on Bruce Feldman's Freak list.

Cap could go a long way to an Uno signing bonus..

I like Hill, always have, but folks asked what the plan was. We signed Sheldon Rankins, we've drafted 2 DTs in the first 3 rounds, we have another 3rd rounder on a rookie contract...I gues we'll see how wrong the suggestion was

Wilson, Pratt, CTB, Tee Higgins, McPherson all have been good picks.

Yep. He's an elite run stuffer...pass rushing is not that good.

Carter may be ok.  Tufele and Bell may need to worry.

Lol, how many true NT offer a good pass rush?  Seriously what are you saying?

We really need to stop the run before worrying about pass rush from the interior, but that is also why we singed Rankins.

So many NFL players have character concerns that you never hear about, Burton is a low risk extremely high reward pick.

The first year was forgettable for sure. That said, Tee Higgins, Logan Wilson, Germaine Pratt, Taylor -Britt, (Sample is good at what he does), are solid players. The kids in the secondary should either prove themselves or flame out this year. Battle looked pretty good toward the end of the year. Myles Murphy started to flash, Chase Brown looked good. Chuck Sizzle was good in the return game, jury out on him and Yoshi as far as offensive play goes, we'll see this year I imagine. It's not top of the league, but it's a bit better than you're letting on, IMO.

I saw a lot of concern and it was warranted about both our OL and DL being too soft to win in the AFC North.

It appears the FO agreed and is attempting to fix it. Who had us taking us taking 2 DTs in first 3 rounds of the draft or 50% of our picks.

We grabbed competition at WR for the slot with Burton and we got a huge OT in Mims.

Time will tell how they do in 2024 and beyond, but I do think the Bengals are moving away from being a finesse defense and offense.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Tufele is the only other NT on the roster besides Jackson.  That said Carter is likely the 5th man right now.
