If he feels like he needs it to get back into rhythm and form, I'm all for it, but he really doesn't need preseason action, so I hope we just let him get some action to get back into the swing of things and then have him on the sidelines.

Good. He needs the preseason to not be rusty. We've seen in previous years how lack of playing/practice in preseason resulted in a few weeks of underperforming in the regular season.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Patience has paid off!

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Truth, it is a gamble either way but to start slow and dig yourself a hole early may be the bigger gamble.

We need our starting OL to play at least a couple of series with Joe under Center with a couple new weapons in Gesicki and Burton.

I know some say practice is where it is at, but if that is the case we shouldn't of started so slow the last couple years as it wasn't just
Burrow who played poorly early regardless of injury. The entire team was rusty to start the last couple of seasons.

This is great news on Burrow's condition and Zac saying starters will play this Preseason. Wink

I think Burrow under center, even in limited preseason snaps, will give the line comfort knowing that they can protect him and get used to him calling signals and blocking against different defenses, even if it's vanilla defensive play calling.

Practice is learning techniques, schemes, and to prepare for when it gets live, which the preseason is a nice warm-up for the season. Hopefully it gets our team flowing in a good direction heading into the real games.

I can't wait to see Burrow with his new weapons and a capable offensive line!

I’m deathly afraid of this man getting injured in preseason but i want him to have 2-3 drives a game

Maybe even a whole quarter in the last game

I’m just tired of starting slow and if i have to pick a struggle i pick being afraid every preseason snap to ensure he comes in the season ready

Until they feel confident that the RPO’s can hold the Rush End they aren’t doing them. Their number 1 priority is protecting Joe and they haven’t with the RPO’s. Don’t shoot the messenger
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Yes, I know Sled says that practice is the most important but there is something to say about playing against another NFL team's
starters in the Preseason with your own starters. Gives confidence to the players and gains chemistry before the real games begin.

Well the year before last it was an appendectomy and then last season it was Training Camp where Burrow got hurt so shit just
happens regardless of if Burrow plays in the Preseason or not. But the OL not playing in the Preseason I think clearly has been a
problem the last few years and a reason why we have played so poorly early in the regular season.

This is good news that Zac and the coaches are recognizing this and are going to do things differently.

Makes sense, I honestly only like RPO's when Burrow calls them because he sees something with the Defense or he just takes
off when there is a big hole instead of the RPO's. As long as we don't run 100% Shotgun I think the Offense should be just fine
this season. We all know we will run a lot of Shotgun, but the problem was 100% Shotgun early last season because of the calf.

Need to knock the rust off early and avoid those slow starts to the year. Good news.

Can I be the voice of common sense?

Playing Burrow in pre season is a ***** stupid idea why take the risk however small?

Playing the oline is a must but the communication between the line and Browning will be the same as if it was Joe.

If Burrow wants full speed reps take the shackles off Trey in practice on the condition that if he gets through and hits Burrow he doesn’t slam him to the ground.

If you play with feathers you could end up getting your bare tickled it just isn’t worth it.

Disagree,  he has not been that sharp without preseason 1-3 record in 1st games, probably good to give me some real reps, we can't keep worrying about injuries if he can't stay healthy that will be  a major issue in long run

Has he ever played in a preseason game in his career?

I wouldn't be against Burrow taking a series or two in the first couple games. He hasn't played for awhile and seen *game* action. Wts, I do NOT want him behind anyone but the first team Offensive Line, who I DO want to see get reps. I want this line firing on more than 3 cylinders come Week 1!

Cool, if he's planning to take 1000 snaps this year, he can handle 10-20 in preseason. I never understood the paranoia. If you're gonna get hurt, you're gonna get hurt. Can't let that stop you. You need to get ready regardless.

Thanks. Seems him playing Preseason games has no correlation to him getting injured. I just hope he's healthy enough the year to take some snaps in PS

You can play him in the preseason without a significant risk of injuries. You just need to script it and play call that way.

RPOs, quick outs, slants, etc. Get the ball out of his hand within 2 seconds on pre determined throws. Tell him not to extend plays, etc.

It's really not that hard of a thing to protect him, especially when the game really doesnt matter.

I remember when starters played every preseason game, when the game was waaaay rougher. Does that make me old?

Not sure what is up with the board, but it won't let me quote anyone today. Yes, I said practice is most important, but I am really just parroting what the coaches and players said. They get way more benefits in practice than they do in pre-season. The decision has been made to play the starters this pre-season, I just hope we don't end up with starting linemen, or especially Burrow injured because of it. To me, even having pre-season games is a stupid idea. I get that it's how coaches figure out who they want on the back end of the roster, but they ought to be able to do that in practice as well.
