Basically since coming back from his ankle tweak so maybe that just slid him down since they were easing him back in practice. Glad he showed out in his role especially hearing he had just a small family showing of just bringing his mom and sister to the game. Not only because that sounds humble but because that sounds like a great night for his family.
That would make some sense.

About 75% of all snaps had a pre snap shift, which is progress to the offense we had not seen before. Historically, Burrow likes the offense set but it would appear they have added these additional shifts which is a good sign I think for the continued evolution of the offense.
I noticed they were running some differentmotions instead of the shifts they have been doing the last couple years. It's good to see guys running at the snap. They ran a really nice Z under motion into a short crosser early which is the stuff we see from thr McVay tree.

Both punters had good games.
Browning had a dreadful game. Fortunately, the Bengals know his talent from last season. Logan Woodside was really sharp: a 137 rating. Sure, the competition was weak, but he was a delight to watch.
But Carman played a lot, started bad, and stayed bad. I don't remember an OL getting his name mentioned as much as Carman did -- all for bad reasons. I guess one could say he stood out.
It was on a more inconsistent basis but Dax was flying around too
2 PDz and a nice no inches gained tackle on 2nd down one time
I see slot Cb in him and i always have.
Good to see Turner hasn’t been overtaken cause he has his own development plan but it’s very good to see Dax isn’t lost at corner
We have too many DBs right now and I’m going to say that all season
We need to get a DB out the room for a DT.
Just so many guys right now who are young but then we’ve got nothing behind Hill and Rankins.
But that’s just 1 bad game from Jenkins so i won’t make any huge generalizations but i think we need another vet and then Jenkins and McKinney can fight for that DT4 spot
Dominique Davis if healthy is the backup nose tackle then Jenkins and McKinney fight for that last spot
We probably want to get a backup nose that’s healthy or add a vet to that 4th DT competition

He is on the last year of his rookie 2nd round deal. So they didn't overpay per say, but definitely whiffed on him in the draft If they were to cut him, it would be a 2.37 million cap hit. His base salary this year is only 1.675 million though.

Carlos Davis being signed a few days before the game, then leading all the DT's in snaps is worrisome.

Thanks for being condescending though.
He wasn't being condescending at all, merely stating that the question was answered in your post.

Not really: it looked clear as day that the 3rd/4th guys were getting the bulk of the snaps.
I have a feeling the team is comfortable with almost each spot and is just giving the new guys a ton of reps for tape for other teams.

I'll say it as an acknowledgement. It looks like D-End won't be that big of an issue.
Murphy and Ossai looked good. Gunter and others looked good too.
They don't need to be stellar; just good enough to give Hendrickson and Hubbard rest.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carmen's issues are more of a coaching problem.
Watch him get cut and be magnitudes better than he was in Cincinnati. He could be a guy that just needs a fresh start.

Except it didn’t. None of the people I mentioned in the initial post were who I were referring to that was being over Burton in yesterday’s game. What does Chase, Tee, Yoshi, Irwin, and Jone have to do with Pryor, Jackson and Lassiter having more targets/playing time than Burton?
Now the other guy who brought up his injury being a potential reason, was an actual answer, not a sarcastic remark.

Carman wants to get cut and start fresh. He was a bad fit for a lot of reasons.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Carman and Jake Browning looked like they want to play for another team. You can handcuff people to play for your team but the effort they give will reflect that they are forced.
Zac need to grow some Ba**s it takes to bench players that are not having a good game or giving minimal effort. We cannot have a running back by committee RB room if the coach cannot bench a guy for a game. Not saying RB needed benched last night but Jake damn sure did.
Woodside arm was refreshing and his want to win attitude after watching Browning for 3 quarters which was painful.

Think Pollocks replacement might have been hired this past off-season Rascati.

sometimes what is ..is...both Browning and Woodside played against 2s-3s..Woodside was far superior ..hope the coaches take a stronger look at him

We played with a scratch group at DT because Jackson is being eased back from injury and Rankins and Hill only played one series. For the most part the DT group had only 1 practice together so I can forgive some of it. That said some of the plays they blew are Football 101 stuff so it makes it less likely a lot of these guys make the final roster. Jenkins they will be going over the film with to identify what he was doing wrong - which was mystifying because he was not a slouch in college (one of the best run defender in collegiate football and considered the best run defender in the draft). I expect to see a much better outing from him next week.

Except everyone else played well. It really was just Carman. I don't doubt he gets cut, goes to a team with a LT need and shows better as he isn't really a good system fit here.

I have to disagree with this assessment. I certainly hope are coaching staff is not comfortable with all the spots. You have two rookies (one being hurt ) and Zach Carter who has not been good. While I don't think alot of preseason snaps is necessarily a bad sign for a player. I think it comes down to risk vs reward as far as how much do you need to see a player play vs risking said player/position to injury. Davis getting so many snaps is atleast a little troubling that the team doesn't have the depth to risk the other players. When the depth clearly needs to be seen to truly assess if the situation we are in is acceptable going into the season.

I'll be curious to see the breakdowns of this game. Specifically the Dline and Jenkins. I don't think it was all bad for him but we are gonna be counting on significant snaps from him this year. The thing that concerns me with him is he wasn't asked to play alot of snaps at Michigan. Out of his control but we haven't seen that. I'm really hoping we bring in someone significant to give us the ability to ease these guys in slowly.
