Roster Moves August 19
#1
No surprises. But we did place two guys on IR and cut one. We have 3 open roster spots.

The Bengals today made the following roster moves:

*Placed HB Chris Evans (knee) and OT D'Ante Smith (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list.

*Waived DT Devonnsha Maxwell

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

I guess Maxwell just cannot stay healthy or be productive because of injury and also the NFL is just another animal and he isn't
able to compete because he was a man against boys at Chattanooga. Also Kris Jenkins showing some good stuff made this able
to happen and we might be looking to add a Nose Tackle soon or after cuts in case McKinnley isn't able to play in the opener.

It gives some room to add someone immediately if another team cuts a vet for example.

Too bad on Maxwell. I had hoped we found a hidden gem. They just cleared him to practice and activated him last week off the PUP.

You can't cut a guy from PUP.

I am hoping they find some undiscovered IDL and maybe another worthy RB.

They added Carlos Davis on the 8th. Did he even get in the game on Saturday?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I don't know if they'll add anyone. It's time to start cutting the roster down anyway even if they can cut all in one cutdown now.

True. They did away with the different cut deadlines. All teams down to 53 by August 27th at 4 p.m.

He played 27 snaps tied for 6th most on the defense

Glad that they worked him in there. Did he record any stats?

Maxwell was waived outright, not waived with an injury settlement which implies he was healthy when activated.

He played as Pally shown but didn't record any stats. I am going to watch the game later and watch him as sometimes no stats
with a DT isn't necessarily a bad thing. I liked quite a bit of what I saw from Carlos in the first preseason game, but Travis Bell
was the best DT IMO.

Yeah, not a good sign on what Maxwell has been showing in practice.

Which was exactly my point.  He was cleared to practice, activated then cut a week later after coaches got a chance to see him practice.

It appears he was not able to make the leap to the Pros.... shame. Now find someone who can.

They gave Davis a good shot to show what he could do.  He has been invisible.  Now we know why 4 different NFL teams cut him.  He is not NFL material.
