Yes, there were blatant (uncalled) holds on Trey where he likely gets to Mahomes if not held. So much more blatant than the penalty called on Orlando. It's painful, but we know the Chiefs and Steelers get the calls. Some of these part-time officials are likely Steelers or Chiefs fans, or perhaps are just obsequious to those large and passionate fan bases.

It's funny that it was from a Packers fan, as they get Ref's non-calls.  Smirk

This kind of reminds me of one of those WWF wrestling matches where the ref turns his back to argue with someone, and someone comes in and hits the one I liked over the head with a chair, then scurries out of ring with it as his guy rolls over with 1 arm to pin. Then Ref turns around to give the 3 count in milliseconds.

It was PI it was the right call. We got away with a couple of uncalled PI. I feel on 4th and 16 a blitz to force Mahomes to get rid of the ball quick was correct strategy.

No bias. They called them on holding on the previous play that would have gotten them the first down. If that clear PI didn’t happen, Bengals win. They also missed so many holding calls that were not just flaggable, they would get a cop arrested if they did that to a suspect.

They can just suck without there being a grand conspiracy.

This is right. The longer a play has, the more likely something like this happens. Bring the house and don’t give him 2 seconds… the end result may have been the same… but rather see the other team make a play then leave it to what happened.

I still blame Lou for rushing three. They have to get sixteen yards. Send five and make them hurry.

Sounds plausible on the surface, and then you remember that Pat Mahommes is great at running around and making things happen. He's kind of Captain Chaos in that respect.

I thought it was a pretty evenly called game.

Anthony should get less playing time.

I'm just a fair and honest Bengals fan.

While I definitely agree with the premise of this thread I would prefer to be so far ahead in games so the officiating doesn’t matter.

They come out every week with footage of offensive holding.
The old cliche says they could call it every play.

As a fair and honest Bengals fan watching the game live, I thought it was pretty evenly called both ways.
I haven't looked into any after the game footage and don't plan on wasting time on that.

That is my position, you can hate me for it if you want.
Bengals need to play a little better to win these games.
They are right there though.

I watched it from beginning to end, and didn't feel like it was evenly called. Now, I don't have the time to spend watching "all 22" and other such services, but I certainly recognize blatant non-calls when they happen.

I would say this play in question was a hold, but that dlineman was not in a position to do anything.

He was so far out of the play (he was neither downfield nor in the backfield where the ball was) that it went undetected by the refs.

Not something I'm going to get upset about.
I would say the defensive PI was more blatant.
That play is something we can fix.
That penalty shouldn't happen.

Getting upset at a fantom holding call won't make the team better in any regard.
If I were a member of the team I'd be focusing on what I could fix.

The bias extends way more than a single play. The one in question is only culmination of an entire game of blatant no-calls on the Chiefs and the Bengals being held to regulation standard. I get that when you break down the play in question that both sides should have been flagged, and they would have replayed 4th and 16. The Bengals deserved that opportunity for the Chiefs to have to face 4th and 16 again.

It won't. Unless the rules for incidental contact have changed recently, Anthony was jobbed on one or more of those late game PI calls. They used to let DBs absolutely MUG offensive skill players so long as the ball was in the air and both players were turned around facing the QB. I remember a game when Jim Leonard sealed a game for the Jets by jumping up and using the full force of his weight to knock a Bengals WR down. It was ruled incidental contact because the ball was in the air and both players had their heads turned around. How was that last penalty any different? It's yet another piece of evidence that points to the NFL being little more than a soap opera for men.

It doesn't matter how "fairly" it's called all game, as long as they make the "wrong" or "right" call at the end. Making it appear fair up until then just fools the easily fooled lol.

Entertaining games are ones that are kept close, rarely games out of hand are "entertaining". People turn them off and some leave the game.
