Lou anarumo
#1
This organization has truly failed lou anarumo,he predicted this outcome when they didn't want to pay Jessie bates then they didn't want to pay DJ reader..In lou's defense he pleaded with the organization to do whatever they could to keep the two stalwarts, he even went as far as saying he truly feared what life would be like without them..

just watching the overall scheme recently it's very noticeable how we don't play as much press coverage, and the single high cover 3 zone concepts are nowhere near as effective as they once was..Lou also has a fear of bringing aggressive pressures where the corners are playing closer to the Los fearing getting beat over the top..

It was fun while it lasted this team has hit rock bottom, don't know what the final record will be just know that with this defense the season is over, this defense is embarrassing and it's completely on the front office, we have cap space that we're sitting on we could've made real moves to improve but we we're content with signing rankings smdh..

His sceme 100% depended on Reader and Bates...

If you wouldve asked me in 2021 what 2 players were most important on D id a said Reader and Bates....

We let them walk to sign Chase and yet we are still acting like money is an issue.

We got all this hype about our new Paycor rights and MB is ***** us.

I completely agree, it's amazing how mike brown continues to get over on the fans with this crap approach..we had a solid nucleus and he just had to ruin it being cheap as usual..

I've been saying this for awhile now... Lou Anarumo just isn't good, and I am sure as hell not a defender of this organization.

This is the 6th year with Lou Anarumo. They have had a below average defense in 5 of those 6 years. This isn't about Bates, this isn't about Reader. Lou just is not good.

2019: 29th overall / 25th scoring / 26th sacks / 28th turnovers / 25th 3rd down
2020: 26th overall / 22nd scoring / 32nd sacks / 27th turnovers / 20th 3rd down
2021: 18th overall / 17th scoring / 12th sacks / 17th turnovers / 22nd 3rd down
2022: 16th overall / 6th scoring / 29th sacks / 11th turnovers / 20th 3rd down
2023: 31st overall / 21st scoring / 18th sacks / 12th turnovers / 22nd 3rd down

And now we've all seen what his defense looks like in 2024. Lou needs to out-talent his opponents just to be sub-par, that's not a good DC. If you require a well paid vet at 9/11 spots on the defense, with well paid vet backups for some of them, are you really contributing anything as a DC or are you just telling your guys to go out there and be more talented than their opponents? If young guys (the young guys you pick because our scouting department is pathetic) can't learn your defense, that's also kind of a you issue.

They should've signed bates long term and replaced bell with a draft pick..I hate to say this but we are getting nothing from Zac Carter and Sam Hubbard,I'd rather see Cedric Johnson, ossia and Kris Jenkins getting those snaps..

Worst DL in the NFL. It's shown up 3 weeks in a row.
I have the Heart of a Lion! I also have a massive fine and a lifetime ban from the Pittsburgh Zoo...

as much as I like lou and I've been a lou defender I can't argue with your point on this one..what your saying has merit to it because the only competent draft pick in his defense is CTB and that's sad giving all the draft capital the organization put into his side of the ball..

Cause why would you blitz when your d line is the worst in the league?

You don’t need to pressure the QB or anything Lou…

Nope

Your defense is perfect.

Lou had one great second half and a solid playoff run in 2021, other than that he has been average to terrible.

Imagine a world where we paid Bates, brought back Larry O in 22 paid Reader and traded up a place for Karlaftis.

Instead we got a safety who wasn’t good enough who we turned in to a corner who isn’t good enough.

A bloke who just got off the couch.

Zac Carter who’s as much use as a condom at a fertility clinic and an aging Sam Hubbard.

I’m not even surprised about the ineptness of our front office.

He seems to have KC’s #, that’s about it.

Yup.

Last 3 years just on defense they spent...
2 1st Rounders
3 2nd Rounders
3 3rd Rounders

It's not like they've been neglecting defense. You'd be hard pressed to find a team that spent more day 1 and day 2 draft picks on defense the last 3 years and because of how the Bengals work, the DC gets a lot of input into who get drafted. Plus in those 3 years they paid Hendrickson, Hill, Rankins, Wilson, and Pratt. All presumably because Lou wanted them. Then they re-signed Bell and signed Stone because Lou said he couldn't make do with young guys. They have put a LOT into the defense. It's just not good.

I hate to agree with you because I'm truly a Lou guy,he was a big reason for our superbowl run and it's hard for me to be too critical because of that and how he always has answers for KC

It's a dismal combination of bad X's & O's along with very, very, subpar Jimmys & Joes.

So what yall are telling me in only rushing 4 no matter what when you don’t have the d line to do it makes you a bad D?

Who would’ve thought

Lou’s playcalls make me think he believes we have the top passing rushing D line in the league

Blitzing is usually just 5 and that is to create 1 on 1 matchups for your DL. Only Bengals DL winning 1 on 1 is Trey...
