I think currently in line for the 2nd overall? Panthers ahead of us because we beat them. Every other 1-4 team has either a win against us (Patriots) or a better divisional record than us.

It’s not over until we are mathematically eliminated. There are still 12 games left to play. We could win one of them. If we really try.

ZT needs to go. Running the ball three times to set up a 50+ in OT, only to Bungle the snap. We have one of the best passers in the league???This ones on you ZT

They might as well play Tycen Anderson he can't do any worse.

Tycen had mid-field coverage responsibility on punt return, he was so pathetically unaware, that he left the middle without even looking at the punter to go help block a gunner on the sideline when the Panthers ran the fake punt pass up the middle.  The rookie, on the opposite sideline, had to come off his gunner block responsibility to break that pass up.

Tycen is a great athlete but they obviously cannot trust him.

And I am tired of having players they cannot trust.  Just like Burton.  Do we suck at drafting so bad that we choose stupid players or are these coaches so inept that they are incapable of teaching these players the basics?

The Burton pick is so frustrating. I recall Zac's call to inform him he had been drafted. Zac seemed extra pumped to land Burton. Yet, they get nothing out of him.

Not really.

The run plays did not cause the holder to drop the ball. And he did call a pass play.

Likely have to go 9-3 in these remaining games given it's rare for a 9-8 team to make it into the playoffs.

Even 8-4 would be damn impressive, but who is the savior on defense that we are waiting to get healthy to turn this defense into at least a middle of the pack one so that this team can actually win games when putting up 28+ points?

Bengals won't make a trade for an impactful defensive player to help this year unless they can get to 5-4 or 4-5 by the time the trade deadline hits (Nov 5).
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Burton was there because he had problems. Zac knew he had problems that would have to be dealt with and took him because of his potential, knowing those problems would take a while to work out. The Burton pick was a no brainer.

The only thing I can think of is the dude is having serious trouble remembering the routes for the plays.

This was supposedly a team ready to compete. They need immediate contributions from players and not potential. How was he a no brainer compared to all other available players at that time?

Edit: and his personal problems that caused him to fall in the draft isn't what is keeping him off the field right now.

Which is disappointing if true. I wonder how often organizations unravel during the draft process a guy isn't going to have the intellect to know the playbook.

Like I said last week Bell should NOT be starting in this league anymore.

Agreed, why do you think he was waiting to get signed? He was slow as a snail....I do think he might be coach material
So many holes to plug on the D its head spinning. Our only true pass rush threat Trey will be gone next yr I believe and we have so many other issues to address
A tiny scouting dept and no real legit GM who understands talent evaluations will crush Burrows career and hate to say it but he could go Carson Palmer on them and I would not blame him.

It may not be what I speculated.
It could just be the Bengals think so highly of Iosivas that they don't see room for Burton on the field right now.
He's on pace to have just over 500 yards though, which is lower than we're used to seeing WR3 for Bengals. However, Bengals are getting their TEs more involved in the passing game, so 500+ yards might become the norm for WR3 in the offense moving forward.

I do wonder if the Bengals end up deciding to try to trade Higgins, could we see Burton take his spot after trade?

Let's hope the dude is good enough to take over for Tee.

have you seen the massive difference between Bengals scouting dept and rest of league? I think Baltimore has 3 X the staff and a LEGIT GM not some  family friend yes man like Tobin. ..I mean the dude has a lifetime position it seems even after massive misses on trench talent in past.  Its pathetic and dont see why NFL hasnt stepped in on this BS to force Brown to have a minority interest. We need a wealthy owner thats ready to step in and do everything it takes to modernize this team otherwise I can see drafted players pulling an Elway or  Eli on them

No it's not. We still have 12 games remaining. This season is far from over and this team is far from done. 4 game winning streak on its way starting Sunday against the Giants. 5-4 here we come and then the rematch against the Ravens in their house.

Probably, but with the way teams these days draft QBs and WRs high you can probably get the best defensive player in the draft outside of the top 10.
