We really need to hit on Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson.

We clearly didn't on Zach Carter. Mellow

I've said before that Zach Carter would probably be OK to good as a Viking or a Cowboy . . .  somewhere else in the league. But in the AFC North, he's just an undersized DT.

Hitting on Geno Atkins was awesome, but it kind ruined their approach to drafting DTs by just relying on mid rounders. That's why a mediocre DT from outside of the organization like BJ Hill winds up getting as many healthy snaps that he can get. In reality, on a good defense, he's a backup/rotational piece at best. Here, he's got job security. and as long as they keep drafting mid-late round DTs, he has no real competition.

By trading Rankins now, we save another $2 mil, plus get an extra pick.

Rankins was a semi-big ticket DL pickup this year.

3rd round pick in 2022. Bad drafting

The 2022 DT class was horrendous.  Of course the Ravens selected Travis Jones, the only quality DT thus far from that draft.

I think the Zac Carter experiment should be all but over don't put this guy back on the field period..

Duke, is that you?  Were you just preparing us for the move?

Yes and that is a problem for sure. I wanted Byron Murphy in this last draft for these very reasons. If you are going to be a bit undersized
you better be damn strong like Geno Atkins was and Byron Murphy is damn strong like this. Drafting an End and trying to move him to 3-tech
in the AFC North was just dumb on top of bringing in Rankins to replace DJ Reader, different players.

Just curious Nate, I honestly don't know, but how has Murphy looked so far?

Only DJ Ivey on PUP is eligible to return to the active roster and I doubt he will be ready before November at the earliest

Sorry I meant from just carrying 5 healthy DTs perspective.

Hill, Rankins, Jenkins, Jackson, and...Guy or Tufele?
I can't imagine they'd carry 6, although maybe they would?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I still think Gabe Hall would be worth poaching off of Philly's PS.
6'6" 295lbs. 20lbs of chili onto the boy and I think he'd serve well.

I know doing so isn't proof of being good or anything, but I am always skeptical of OL and DL who don't do the bench at the combine. Is it a lack of arm/shoulder/pec strength? Is it a lack of diligence in the weight room?

Jackson Carman and Billy Price both didn't bench.

Carman was injured and didn't do any kinda workout until an individual pro-day right before the draft and still didn't test... Billy Price actually injured himself doing the bench press at the NFL Combine.

Watching the Jets vs Vikes early game and Rich mentions the Jets have 21 sacks... Bengals have 5.

Zach Carter didn't resign with the Bengals practice squad. He visted the Saints before signing with the Raiders practice squad.

Jokes aside, I hope he does well wherever, so long as it's not the AFCN (or Chiefs) and not against us. Shame it didn't work out here. I think with his body he might have better success as a 3-4 DE?

They gave Carter ample opportunities and with the hit to the Dline depth this offseason he couldn't / didn't step up.

Best of luck. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for him, but he did get his opportunity here and didn't capitalize.

Byron Murphy has been sidelined  last 3 games with a hamstring injury. In the 3 games he did play (6 games so far because Seattle played Thursday night), Murphy had half-a-sack and 6 tackles (2 solo, 4 assist).
