What Are you Playing Now & General Game Discussions

What reviews are hammering it over wokeness? Can’t be that bad…probably only impacts the game during cut scenes?

Steam ones, Youtube ones.

Not the best game ever but I didn't notice any wokeness so far ...

2 things that are boring. The long shaders loading at the start of the game and I mean long ( 5 minutes ) and the corridor gameplay.

It's not an openworld and you can't go where you want and that's annoying.

Combats are fun and somehow not easy.

Shaders are only a PC problem apparently.  No issues at all on XBOX.

The step back from open world is not a secret, that's been known for two years now.  More Mass Effect like was the goal.

And i agree with you on the wokeness (or lack thereof).  I haven't noticed a thing yet and I don't expect it to bother me if I notice it at all.  Online grifters are just looking to incite and get clicks IMO.  And the criticism is stupid anyway as it isn't like Bioware suddenly started making games this way.  They've had Bi-main characters as far back as Jade empire.  I hate cancel culture.....

As a huge Bioware fan, I'll agree the game is ok to fair thus far, but I'm only 10 hours in, so I'm hoping for.....more.  :).

Essentially, all the companions are BI.....everyone can romance everyone.  I think there are some trans characters (haven't seen any yet), but there was one trans character from the main prequel book (Tevinter Nights) leading up to release, that was trans that the DA fans love, who is supposed to be a NPC in the game.  Haven't seen them yet, so can't confirm.  I am out of the prologue and well into Act I and I haven't seen anything woke....but then I'm not really looking for it either so if it was there, it was nothing overt.

IMO, it's just cancel culture content creator yahoos trying to incite riots and get clicks.

Wll, they apparently fixed the shader thing, it's just one minute long now.

what game are y'all talking about? I need to play something new, almost done with Zelda echoes of wisdom.

Dragon Age The Veilguard. But if this is a correct game, I wouldn't recommand it at that prize.

Echoes of Wisdom isn't a bad game, but it's pretty poor for what you expect out of a Legend of Zelda title. They did a wonderful job of blending some elements from Breath of the Wild with the traditional 2D Zelda entries. But with a passive combat system, they really needed to knock the other aspects of the game out of the park and they kind of just didn't.

Maybe it's just my old age, but it has me wanting to play through Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword for the umpteenth time rather than keep trudging through it.

looks like no current planned DLC for Dragon age the Veil Guard... as Bioware turns its eyes to the next mass effect

The more I play Dragon Age and the more I like it. Once you met your crew, the world finally opens itself and it's way more enjoyable.

I also changed my class to warrior and the fights are fun, like really fun.

It's still not a Rpg, but more an action game but I enjoy it. I don't regret my purchase.

Lvl 22 at the moment and I finally found my keyboards bindings to make it work during fights.

This is a key point.

i have come to the exact same conclusion.  The first 10 hours was a bit of a slog, but once you get the 4th squad member, you run into a major event and things start opening up.  Obviously more so once you get the 5th and 6th members.

To all - some non-spoiler thoughts:
Dialogue:  It has been reported that writing is poor.  Yes and no.  My opinions thus:
1--1 on 1 Companion dialogue is poor in the lighthouse.
2--Squad Banter in the field is fair to good
3--Quest dialogue static and in the field is generally excellent.

The hand crafted quests and missions are where the dialogue shines, but it takes a bit to get into the quests so the first impressions are 1 & 2 instead of 3.

Head Scratcher:  You don't get a warrior companion (and taunt) until squad mate 4, which can make staying alive early for a rogue or mage frustrating.  I always play a warrior first in RPGs, so it didn't affect me, and I am glad I did just to get used to the combat.

I'm playing a 2H stagger warrior and enjoying it.  45 hours in and got all companions at about the 35 hour mark, but I do EVERYTHING I can before moving the story along.

Yep.  Bioware leads (Bush and Epler) have been saying that unofficially for weeks now.

Wouldn't surprise me if they leave a small team to remaster DAO (not sure they can do all three since the first three games aren't all on the same engine), and put everyone else on ME Next.  Problem is ME still isn't out of pre-production, so tough to shift everyone over at this time.  But we might find out something more on N7 day Nov 7th.

i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a Dragon Age trilogy is in the works similar to the Mass effect one we got.. With a DAO getting a minor overhaul like ME1 did.

Seems like an easy win.

(but then i'm still waiting on a Gears of War collection  which id figured be out by now lol)

John Epler said in his recent Rolling Stone (weird) article that it is unlikely because there aren't 20 people left who know anything about the original engine.

So they could work to enhance the engine like was done for BG1/BG2, sell the rights to someone to do that, or rebuild it in Frostbite (very VERY unlikely).

But it isn't looking good.

Emulation is your best bet.

The Switch has a decent library on their Online service, but it's a paid subscription. The Wii and Wii U had better Virtual Consoles that I imagine have shut down by now.

Nintendo Switch with Nintendo online is the best way now.. .   20 a year for the base and i think 60 a year for higher tier with more games.

Outside of that.   they made some Classic Mini consoles  of the NES and SNES.   that have a bunch of games preloaded. not sure how easy they are to find now though.
