Amarius Mims
#1
It’s been a disappointing season so far but I feel like Mims has been playing good and flying under the radar. I hardly notice him on game days which is a good thing. We’ve been searching for a RT forever and might have finally found the guy. With Brown at LT we finally have two good bookends. Also with so many bad picks recently plus are good young guys getting hurt in Alt and Hill we desperately needed to hit on this pick.

Mims is quietly having a nice season. He's going to be a monster in years to come.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

PFF has not been kind to him, but I agree that he seems to be holding his own out there. Maybe we've just been conditioned to expect such horrendous play from the RT that we are satisfied to get even serviceable or below average play from the position but, any way you slice it, he has improved the position for us, and that's what you hope for any rookie starter.

Even Sewell had some struggles his rookie season. IIRC he took a lot of penalties for one thing. It’s looking more and more clear the Bengals found their RT.

He’s gone thru a gauntlet too

Myles Garrett twice, Micah Parsons soon, TJ Watt twice, Chase Young, and Maxx Crosby

Just so many good pass rushers and he’s held his own is not dominated some of them

The Bengals have not played the Browns twice, have not played the Steelers at all so far, Chase Young plays for the Saints and the Bengals don't play them this season.

He's played against Garrett once, and hasn't even faced Watt yet...

Crosby is a beast, Raider's version of Trey. Mims did well against him, no perfect, but Crosby is a terror.

I sure wish the Bengals would add Crosby or the Lawrence from the Giants for their DL tomorrow.

Likely won't happen, but I can dream.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

For Mims to play decent against Mad Maxx is very encouraging as he is one of the best pass rushers and run stopping Ends in the league.

I agree, having Crosby and Hendrickson as matching ends would be sick... Tiger

Crosby is what I'd call a complete DE. Watching him yesterday was impressive. He not only rushes like a beast he always keeps his head up looking for the run as well. He killed a few of the run plays yesterday by moving laterally down the line and catching the RB form behind, but before the RB gained any significant ground. I'd absolutely give up next year's 1st round pick in a trade for Crosby.

Ive been impressed normally rookie tackles have a good amount of penalties adjusting to the QB cadence, NFL rules, and the NFL speed difference, he has done a solid job.

decent for a rookie, but overall having a below average year when you compare him to other starting tackles. He will improve, but I want his ceiling to be higher than Andre Smith's

Yeah, would be all for that Mer.

I think he is holding his own with the other rookie 1st round tackles outside of Alt #5 and  Fuaga #14 it seems as far as PFF grades... though I cant see everything since I do not subscribe to PFF.  I really like his limited penalties 1 out of almost 400 snaps.  Also his sack to snap ratio is the best with rookie tackles over 300 snaps.  Again can't gauge how many were passing snaps vs rushing snaps but still good stat
