Bengals trade 7th round pick for Bears RB Khalil Herbert

Thank you. Makes sense.

I feel C. Brown has another level.

JB w a run game? Scary!

I would agree.

I only mentioned potential backup because:
1) Herbert has not been a bellcow back aside from a few games each season 2021-2023 and none this season.
2) Chase Brown showed last week against LV what he can do if he's a bellcow - 32 touches for 157 yards

Bengals might want to give Brown ~15-20 touches a game and Herbert ~10 if they really want to see if Brown could consistently be at true RB1.

I would expect part of the interest to trade for Herbert was to give him more than the ~5 touches a game he was getting this year in CHI.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I posted Herbert' college highlights yesterday, but here are some NFL highlights. I fail to see how anyone can criticize giving up a 7th rounder for this guy, I'm excited to see him do this here. He looks dangerous as heck on kickoff returns.

See kick returns here...

Am I the only one who forgot that we traded Mixon for a 7th round pick? So, we essentially got Herbert for nothing.

very good move. They just needed to make a defensive move as well. Thats why it was ultimately underwhelming as a whole. And unfortunately, he isnt a good pass blocker.

But him and Chase can prove to be a very effective and efficient duo. Thats why I believe they will run the ball a little more ROS. Not by much, but like 3 more attempts than what their current average is

Agree on most counts, but with All being out for the year and him honestly being our best run blocker I doubt we run the ball more.

I know he was a TE, but a lot of our best runs were running behind him on his pull blocks, dude was stellar at this.

Hope you are right though and Chase Brown and Khalil Herbert are a more explosive/dependable/talented running duo than Brown/Moss.

This would really help the team as a whole if true.

I get All is out, but Herbert is a downgrade in the pass blocking department compared to Moss, while being a very big upgrade in actually running the ball.

It's unfortunate, but if Herbert can be as efficient here as he was in chicago for his career, you're looking at a 1-2 punch that can be nearly as good as Hill and Gio in 2014.

and if that is the case, why not run it a little more. Certainly if Tee keeps on missing games

True that we cannot put Burrow in those bad situations with a bad pass protecting RB. Perhaps Drew Sample in the backfield at H-Back while
doing what you say and running the ball more could really help cause yeah, Herbert is a better runner than Moss by a lot. Good pickup for sure.

He's a more athletic Zach Moss but he can't stay healthy. Hopefully he can produce for us. Here's his PFF page for career and games played this year:

Our big move. Touched the ball once and fumbled it.

I think you're on to something after seeing him play tonight, he's definitely on the path to being the next Jeremy Hill.  Ninja

that was a bad debut, but his play in chicago through out his years has shown he is very good.

But yea no excuse. Chase can’t fumble there either

I thought it was stupid that he was benched for fumbling his first touch. I mean, new team, trying to make an impression, it happens. He definitely should have gotten more playing time. The only thing I could figure is the coaches just want him to have more time with Burrow practicing handoffs so they get that down smoothly. The points on turnover from Brown's fumble was the turning point in the game. (Not blaming Brown, that was a great play by the Ravens) But is Brown was not taking every snap, would that have even happened? I don' think any of it matters, Clete seems to have bet on the Ravens to miss two facemask calls on Burrow and a clearly obvious DPI in the end zone as the Bengals were about to win.
