A Hidden Positive with Higgins Out
#1
There's no way to argue that this season hasn't sucked.

Even so, there's one thing that I think has been made pretty clear: This offense does not need Tee Higgins to thrive. Burrow has gone off for 2 straight weeks without him. He's proven that he most certainly is what we thought he was, ie a truly elite QB1 that can make an offense out of lesser parts when he has to. Chase had 250 plus and 3 tds vs the Ravens without Tee on the field to divert attention. Tee has been available for a total of 4 games. The offense, with the exception of the NE game, has largely looked fine..

Could they have used him vs Philly? No doubt. Is he a necessity? IDK anymore.

I think his departure is a disguised blessing. It will force them to utilize the TE more effectively (which they have), and also put more emphasis on the run game (ugh.)

To summarize: Burrow and Chase are enough without Tee. This offense isn't going to turn into a pumpkin while he misses half the games for another team while making 27 mil per or so in 2025.

I'm sorry to say this, I am a huge Tee Higgins fan, he does everything right, shows a positive attitude, is great to his fans and if you're kid is going to look up to an athlete, he would be my pick. That said, he is probably the healthiest he is ever going to be right now, and as he ages his ailments will get worse and take longer to heal. If he can't stay on the field now, he's headed to be another Eifert. I can't see giving him a long-term contract anymore.

Is it clear?  The Bengals are 3-2 when Tee plays.  They are 1-4 when he doesn't.

That’s a little dishonest. The offense has been fine without tee. The bengals need to not have a dog crap defense, and a better interior o-line

That 1-4 record without tee becomes at least 3-2 if the bengals had the 2022 defense

Honestly? With a D similar to 2022 they probably only have like 1-2 losses.

Carolina, Cleveland, NYG.  The quality of the teams that they beat with Tee was exceptionally poor.

To be clear, I like Tee as a player and appreciate what he's done as a Bengal.  All I'm saying is that fears of this offense collapsing without him were unfounded.

Tee has been & is one of my favorite Bengal players but I've come to realize that money would be better spent on a defensive stud pass rusher to go along with Trey.

And what does our 3-2 w/ Tee become without him?

Tee showed up to camp on day one given everything he had with no contract in sight doing everything he could to help us this season and as soon as gets hurt you got unappreciative fans bitching left and right insinuating that he's dogging it..

I get it he's had some bad luck on the injury front in his career but Tee Higgins has been a world class member of this Bengals team and people need to put some respect on this kids name it's treatment of some of you fans that's reason this franchise is so damn unlucky as it is now..

you read that wrong. I said the team is at least 3-2 if they had the 22 defense in the games that Tee wasnt playing.

Nah, I read it right, perhaps interpreted wrong. You seemed to assert Tee "didn't matter" it's the crappy D.

I asked what would our 3-2 with him be without him if he doesn't matter.

Tee does matter more when the team's defense is crap. If the defense was 2022 level, Tee wouldnt be as important, because the offense is still really good without tee.

Obviously it helps having him out there, but it's the defense overall that has the bengals at 4-6

Imagine if we would've spent his 22 million/yr on exactly that.

Damn.

Agree.  There have been several, even most losses where you really couldn't ask much more of the offense.

Even a mediocre defense has this team in a much better position.  Tee being out isn't ideal, but it's definitely not the main or even secondary reason we are losing.

We need interior linemen.  Unfortunately we also need pass rush help.  And secondary help.  And maybe another running back.

They need an upgrade in both interior trenches. But duke and his 4 scouts aren’t trustworthy at those specific spots. So this really isn’t ideal

Yeah, but this thread is about Tee's influence on the current teams, not some made-up team.

the offense is still borderline elite without him. That should really say it all.

Help fix the defense for next year, and they'll win more games. Spend money more wisely than giving an injury proned Tee Higgins a bunch of cash
