Burrow "MVP Season"

Fixed..

No HC/QB combo has ever won a SB if the kicker keeps missing critical field goals..

McPherson is 19/19 on FGs in the postseason. He isn't why they didn't win a SB and instead is the reason they even reached one. He also doesn't play on the 28th scoring defense and last year he didn't mess up Burrow's wrist or play on the 21st scoring defense.

Please stop trying to perpetuate this myth.

In 2021 he was 19th in FG%.
In 2022 he was 25th in FG%.
In 2023 he was 21st in FG%.

He has NEVER been above-average in FG% during the season. He got paid because he was money in the postseason. He's had 4 different holders and he's had 4 different below average FG% regular seasons.

Seeing way too many eerie similarities with Andrew Luck. Saw this on an old Reddit post as well:

Andrew Luck was sacked 115 times in 55 games. Joe Burrow has been sacked 148 times in 52 games
This doesn't include post season stats either.
Luck was sacked 11 times in his whole playoff career (8 games), Burrow has been sacked 29 times in the playoffs (7 games)

We are wasting an all-time QB here and something needs to change, fast.

Well lets see..

"McPherson is 19/19 on FGs in the postseason."
They're not in the post season and they aren't to going to make this one partly due to missed field goals barring a miracle..

"He isn't why they didn't win a SB and instead is the reason they even reached one."
Three years ago and fading fast..

"He also doesn't play on the 28th scoring defense and last year he didn't mess up Burrow's wrist or play on the 21st scoring defense."
Not sure what happened last year has to do with now..seems you like living in the past..

THIS year I can think of two games lost due to missed critical field goals..6/5 would be better than 4/7 no?

we all know that probably will never happen.

Exactly, and Burrow is doing all this behind a 30th ranked offensive line!

Quote:Nine NFL offensive linemen allowed at least six pressures in Week 10, and four were Bengals players: Cody Ford (eight), Alex Cappa (eight), Cordell Volson (seven) and Amarius Mims (six).

That's beyond shameful!

Like you said, we need to clean house with the coaches, and it obviously starts with Taylor, but get rid of Lou, improve the line, and we might be ok.

If Mike Brown were still running the show, I'd agree that it would never happen, but this front office seems willing to make changes.

Seems like you like forming conclusions about people without reading.

Just two posts below that I point out that McPherson has NEVER been above average in FG%. I've also said multiple times in other threads over the last couple weeks that McPherson has the yips and is broken because he's much worse than even that this year.

Yes, Pollack needs to go as well. This O-line is unathletic besides Mims, but there is no excuse for them to be THIS bad.

Burrow and our skill positions are pretty good, especially Chase, Tee and Chase Brown who honestly if he had any good holes can take it all
the way. Been waiting for a big run to the house for Chase Brown but the OL simply has not opened up that one hole yet. I can see we are
on the verge of it but Cappa honestly looks washed up and this could be hurting Mims who otherwise would be having a good rookie year.

With the bye, I had hoped to hear of a coaching change or 2 by now.

Really? Firing Lou would be the only move I would think of and that would most likely be after the season is over IMO.

Who would take over DC if we did fire him during the bye is my question?

Pollack is #2 on my list to go after Lou but actually might be #1.

Burrow is top of the league in yards and TDs, and near the top in so many categories and he's doing it with one of the worst lines in the league.

It's scary to think how good he can be.

Agree on Mims being the only athletic linemen, but there are ways to scheme around it, which good coaches do.

I'm praying we take the money we used on tagging Higgins, along with the salary cap going up, and spend it on the line. My only fear is that we spend so much time on Chase's contract that we don't get quality players and then use the Chase negotiations as the excuse.

I think the FO is going to just give Chase what he wants. They ought to of learned their lesson coveting those guarantees right before Chase took
the NFL by storm being the best WR this season. Bringing in new OL and new DL coaches has to be the least of our moves this Offseason. The best
teams are built from the inside out as we all know and the FO has not been ignoring the trenches.

It isn't a coincidence that Rankins/Cappa were good else where and look terrible here under these coaches.

For balance:

Pats game 3 and out with the game on the line.
Chiefs game Burrow fumbles and Chiefs run it in for TD. Also had the ball with under 7:00 to go at own 16, up 25-23 and get no points.
Ravens home game bad interception with 3:00 to go. Forced the slant to Chase.
Eagles game was outplayed by Hurts.
Chargers game, yes 2 missed FGs, but need to finish is you are an MVP

No game-winning drives or 4th Quarter comebacks this year.

We need 5 maybe 6 starters on Defense. 3 Dlineman plus Tre 2 S and a CB also need 2 G on offense and a WR2/3 with Higgins gone outside of Chase Brown RB room is dumpster fire. TE seems OK but durability concerns. That's quite a bit to fix in 1 NFL Draft FA. not to mention Bengals made a promise to Tre and Chase we have quite a bit to fix with not a bunch of flexibility either

Then what was the point of your post that was all about how great everything was in the past which has nothing to do with now? Oh that's right..I was supposed to read other post to figure out what you meantWhatever

Its really simple: THIS year field goals have been a problem that have cost the Bengals games..

Carry on with your crusade..

Me talking about how we've had shitty defenses for two years in a row now, and McPherson got paid on what he did in the postseason (because he certainly wasn't getting paid for the regular season) = Talking about how great everything was in the past?

Talk about a crusade. Enjoy.

I'm ready to move on from Pollack. Lou, I'm still not sure. He seems to be great with halftime adjustments. Is he a bad DC, or does he just have mediocre players? I'd like to get him some help in the form of better players before casting him off. One or two bad guys on defense will kill the whole thing. His defense is full of mediocre players with a couple of stars thrown in. That's not really his fault, it's Dukes.

I would ask if it could get any worse with someone else as DC, but I already know the answer to that.......

Lou hasn't had good halftime adjustments this year except in the last game against the Chargers. Some think that is from the Chargers
letting up as well even if I don't really believe that.

Rankins was decent elsewhere and sucks here, same with Geno Stone last season, CTB has regressed. Lou has started a hurt Sam Hubbard
on the other side of the best pass rusher in the NFL this year while Myles Murphy has been better etc.

We need a new DC Sled that can have his Defense make stops at crucial times again.

Bettcher actually has a better resume' than Lou had before coming here. Guess I am answering my own question, but I would fire Lou and
have Bettcher be the DC for the rest of the season if we do fire Lou during the bye. Doubt we will though, the FO doesn't like to make hard
decisions it seems.
