Breaking Burrow's spirit
#1
Joe is no doubt a professional, and ultra competitive, but one has to wonder that if this organization doesn't get this clown show together and sign some true competitors in the off season how long is it going to be before Burrow's competitive spirit is broken and he just doesn't give a damn anymore? I suspect he will demand a trade before that ever came to pass, but the possibility of this happening is very real. Brown and co better open their eyes and their pocketbooks to get some true competitors in here to supplement Borrow and Chase. The cheapness has gone on for way too long.

I don't see them breaking his spirit, he has gone through a lot. What I can see, is him meeting with ownership and demanding better personnel around him, even if that means restructuring

With guys like Germaine Pratt all but guaranteeing victory next week, I can hardly imagine Burrow's spirit being in despair right now.

No better way to attracted the Steelers attention other than to start shit talking a week and a half before the game.

You're 4-7.  Keep your mouth shut and play the game.

Has any team talked more shit and not backed it up as much as we have?

Fans: Joe Burrow is the ultimate competitor

Also Fans: Losing will break Joe Burrow's spirit

Kind of a weird juxtaposition.

No way Burrow's spirit is broken. He just wants this fixed as we all do. You cannot play as well as he has and have this poor of a record.

Just is inexcusable. This bad of Defense is nearly impossible for him to overcome which means it is crazy bad.

I hate to say it but you could almost feel a dysfunction in this team in training camp.

When all the talk about contracts came down with Tee and Trey.

Then they start losing and players start talking shit.

I want this team to succeed but I almost feel like there's so much inside noise it wasn't going to happen this year.

Next year, figure out Trey and Uno's contracts. Sign them.  Fix the defense and IOL.

This team isn't that far away.  Although, they've talked like they're Super Bowl contenders.

And Chase.

Yea I meant to include Chase as well.

Tee's good as gone and if I had a guess he'll end up in Tennessee with Brian Callahan.

That's part of the reason I say piss away the rest of this season, and get a Top 10 pick.

Draft a top 1-2 WR, and then your set up for Round 2 to draft a DE or DT.

I'm trying this find this stat, but I swore I heard during the Ravens game I think that the record for all the NFL teams that scored 31+ points this season was like 60 (something) to 3?  And the only 3 losses were by the Bengals at that time (2-3 record 31+ pts scored)

Basically no one rarely loses if they score more than 31,  except the Bengals, who are now 2-5 on the season when scoring over 31.

this team  is a sliver  away from playing with and  beating the best in the NFL......and dont forget the multitude of injuries...........and that downcast look we have seen from Burrow on recent occasions maybe comes from the fact that he has failed repeatedly making clutch plays and he knows he has....is there room for improvement from the top down..of course..team spending is middle of the road..they just gave burrow one of the largest contracts in the NFL..Chase will get tremendous money..Bengals are far from cheap..talent evaluation needs improvement

compared to some of the other teams in the NFL ..the "noise" you refer to inside the Bengals organization is miniscule compared to other teams..we are having a bad year because of injuries, rookies  playing more than they should because of said injuries..even Joe was not 100% until recently..the sky is not falling..I agree with you..we just need some fine tuning

Eric01 you can't blame injuries man.  Every team has injuries.  The Bengals lost games they "should've" won.  In the 90's we would've called it they "Bungaled" that win away.  Most of this season watching games, all I can think to myself is "how are they gonna bungal this game away".  I hate thinking that way but man the ineptness of the defense and McPherson is just crazy.

I think the Bengals had a good draft this season. I think they truly have some good picks in Mims, McKinney, Jenkins I think are going to big contributors over the next 4 years.  All was having a great season, but after the 2nd ACL surgery on the same knee, lets see if he can come back.  Newton could be a nice nickle corner for us, and Matt Lee will eventually be the center.  This year was a great draft.   I think it's a great draft even if you dont get anything from Burton.  Until he gets his head straight that kid just isn't going to play.

Next year Tee will be gone,  I think you need to cut Rankins, Hubbard and go find 2 players that can get after the QB and stuff the run.  Both have had horrid years.  Address the IOL.   Again, I dont think they're far away.  Just some tweaks.

My favorite is when the defense is getting shredded and a CB defends a pass and celebrates excessively.

you can blame injuries when the brunt of them were on the offensive and defensive line and forced rookies to start....we agree to dissagree

We've only scored 31+ five times this season and we're 2-3 then.
