Perspective?

(6 hours ago)lone bengal Wrote: Understandable just don’t wanna overhype the CB’s was my point think it’s been a combination of both this season. Here’s my thing with CTB you can sell me on ok maybe he’s better at safety but there’s been numerous times this season he doesn’t even know what coverage we’re in which is why he got benched vs. the Chargers. You still need to know coverages and understand the playbook when you’re a safety as well. Seems like maybe his head isn’t in the playbook.

I don't know. He was ok last year, so I don't think it's the playbook, he's just being asked to cover better receivers now as the #1 corner. And, like the yips in golf, when things start going bad it gets in your head and things start going really bad.

Here's some perspective...................... https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2024/11/18/24299556/joe-burrow-wasted-bengals-nfl

Bills about to clench their 5th straight division title in Allan's 7 seasons.  Ravens and Steelers always finding a way.  Green Bay....vomit.  Chiefs.....vomit.  All regular contenders year after year after year after year................

Of course they all have a competent coaching staff and a FO that isn't staffed by incompetent fools.

I hope everyone enjoyed the 2 legit good seasons. We are back to the 90's, but with even more misery, because now there is actual hope that gets crushed.

My perspective.

I think that we're due to lose another superbowl in 2028, then we circle fully back to the 90's

Lol.

I will have some legit hope and excitement when the FO makes real, actual moves to improve itself.  Bring in a real GM.  Significantly expand the scouting dept.  Completely remove MB from any decisions.

Until then no dice.  The Brown Family has tricked me for the last time.  Social Media hype and a ring of honor is cool and stuff, but I want to see real actions that show they want to win.

Until the FO changes, nothing else will change and we will once again watch another Cincy QB waste their career here.  Rinse, lather, repeat.

That doesn't really impress me. The AFC East always belonged to the Patriots because everyone else in that division was weak. Now it is the Bills turn and the rest of the division is weak. The AFCN is always a dog fight. The Clowns are the only ones consistently not in it.... Ravens 5 times, Steelers 5 times, Bengals 4 times over the last 13 years.

  • 2022: Cincinnati Bengals (12-4)

  • 2019: Baltimore Ravens (14-2)
  • 2018: Baltimore Ravens (10-6)
  • 2017: Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3)
  • 2016: Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5)
  • 2015: Cincinnati Bengals (12-4)

It’s only been tossed around here about 200 times. It’s a terrible idea. Dude can’t tackle worth shit. He either salvages his coverage skills or he’ll quickly be out of the league.

They are doing some things, just not on a large enough scale. The naming rights to the stadium deal was a nice injection cash, the partnership with P&G is also bringing in additional revenue. They just need to keep the ball rolling, in order to offer the type of contracts that are becoming standard in the NFL it takes a massive amount of financial liquidity.

14 seasons.  This season is over and probably the most disappointing, disgusting, heartbreaking season I have suffered through in the last 30+ years.

So 2 times over the last 9 seasons.  That doesn't sound like a winning org to me.  lol.

Add 1 to either the Ravens or Steelers.  Whoever wins the division this season.

That's just the money aspect.  When does the REAL OUTSIDE PROVEN GM get hired to run things?  When do they hire a REAL scouting department?  When does MB no longer have ANY decision making/input?

It doesn't matter how much money you have if you can't hit on and develop your draft picks.  They don't value the trenches.

They screwed up on Bates.
They cost themselves millions with not getting Chase deal done.
The oline is still getting Burrow killed through almost 5 seasons.
The dline is awful.

Playoffs 2 of 5 seasons with Joe Burrow. Unbelievable.

The answer to all 3 of your questions is most likely when Mike Brown passes away.

And that is why I have become so negative and lost most of my excitement for Bengals football.

When the unchangeable tippy top is the root cause of all the problems and the likelihood of it changing for the better even after MB passes is 50/50 at best, what is the point.

I would imagine MB taught Katie everything he knows, and that's not a good thing.

Katie is also a highly educated and accomplished woman and old enough to have known her grandfather. I'm sure that at some point in life she's taken the time to consider the differences in how her father and grandfather operate and view the game of football, and is definitely wise enough to put together her own views to implement when the time arrives.

Or at least that's the hope that I'm holding onto.

I hope so man, I really do.

I wish this season would just end.  Watching Mahomes looking to 3peat or however the heck you type that lol, and watching Allen win a 5th straight division title and being in Bills country is depressing.  Throw in the 3 teams I absolutely can't stand........... Ravens, Steelers, Green Bay doing great and this season just really can't get any worse for me.

Thankfully for me, I work about 50 hours per week and have a side gig training younger guys for Strongman, and I host Strongman events. Being that involved I think helps keep me from getting overconsumed with how well my teams are doing.  However when the defense is as shitty as it is this season, drinking seems to help.  Mellow
