5 game win streak won't mean much
#1
Steelers may be resting starters week 18 Broncos have been playing over their heads in my opinion. So we can mostly beat bad teams and lose to good teams. I still want Zac replaced.

We’ve been waiting all season for this supposed streak. I doubt it’s coming.

If we don't get a decent streak Burrow's regular season QB Win-Loss record falls below .500. He's 33-30-1.

Depressing shit to think the Bengals lose nearly as much as they win even with Burrow.

A five win streak would mean a 15 - 18 draft position instead of our current top 10 position. The season is lost. Time to evaluate players currently on the roster for next year and protect starters from injury where possible. Won’t happen, but I would not be opposed to sitting Burrow and letting Browning finish out. Also consider limiting Chase and possibly others.

Does it really matter what number they pick::  Who is projected number one?  In this current system he will not thrive or at least as much as he should. Knowing MB he will pick the shiny object, a return back or WR instead of building the trenches.

With a small scouting department what are the Bengals to do?

Pay Bellichek to run the scouting department at least.  I think he might be better.

The Bengals going on a 5 game winning streak, would be the worst thing that could happen. The front office, would think everything got fixed, and do nothing in the offseason.

We are on a streak, a losing streak, with no end in sight. We may not win a remaining game. Defense couldn’t stop a peewee football team from scoring.

Players come to Bengals to die, and be forgotten. Exception for Burrow and Chase, because their talent is exceptional.

Honestly cannot disagree with this. I cannot trust the FO to do the right thing and fire the Defensive Staff and OL coach now when we
are terrible. If we went on a 5 game winning streak it would pretty much ensure everyone staying on the coaching staff sad to say.

It will mean a worse draft position. If the objective is winning Super Bowls, you lose the rest to maximize your chance at improving.

The dead cat bounce

Me and a local Bengals buddy just had this discussion. But thing is, with this defense I highly doubt we win out.

A completely mediocre offense just lit em up. That means just about everyone left on the schedule can do the same... I don't think either scenario is likely, but I have an easier time believing they lose the last five as opposed to winning out.

Right

The Titans IMHO is the only game I'd be (mildly) surprised to see us lose. Dallas isn't a gimmie despite their record. Cleveland always plays us tough and our D will make Winston look all world. Denver is just an L, book it.

The only up in the air game is Pittsburgh depending on whether they're resting starters?

I'll say 2-3 at absolute best 3-2. And as you say losing out wouldn't shock me, at all.

While it may not happen, it "should" happen.  Protect your pieces you currently have.

What good is Burrow, Chase to this organization if either suffer a major injury the last 5 games for 2025?  Absolutely no good.

Put in Browning and play Chase sparingly at WR.  Look at your rookie and 2nd year players.  Your gonna need them at WR next year when Tee is gone.

Put as many 1st and 2 year players in on defense, cause there's gonna be a lot of guys losing jobs on defense, or there should be.  That's the absolute worst defense I've seen in many years of watching football. I don't even think Dave Shula had a defense this bad, and that's saying something.

This defense is so garbage that Cooper Rush, Will Levis and Jameis Winston will look like Brady against us. There's no a single game left on our schedule we should take as granted. As much as I'd like to hold a Top 10 pick next year, I still want to see more wins. Burrow and Chase deserve that. We can win some games and still get Lou fired.

Exactly

This defense couldn't stop a good HS team.
