Future of the Defensive Line.
#21
I like what I saw in Jenkins. Let's team him up with his interior linemate who won the National Championship together. It's worked for Washington.

Grant in the 1st and a stout edge later in the draft. Hell, maybe bring a 3rd Wolverine (Stewart) to the d-line mx. We love us some Wolverines

Couldn't agree more, bfine. I think Grant is the prize, which makes up for the T'vondre Sweat miss. It is interesting in that one site that I follow actually has him ranked ahead of Mason Graham.

I hope he drops. The run at DT will start in earnest in mid round 1 and into mid round 2.

I don't think he will be there in round 3, but if he is.....

Better prospects to be had IMO. Really liking Darius Alexander  6'4 310 and can play all along the DL was very impressive this week.

That really hasn't been working out for us...

The same approach is also working for the Rams with the two FSU D-Linemen, Verse and Fiske.

Fiske impressed me, but unfortunately for them he was hurting and couldn't stay on the field in the playoff game.

He had a solid season though. I was watching a Rams game about mid-season and those two were causing the other team's offense some serious problems.

Interior OL is weak this year. So round 3 would be the spot for TE.

Depending on who ended up being available at 17, I would be down for that as well.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

It's always risky to project how a player will do if they get more toward a full workload based on how their limited snaps were, but...

Jenkins played 496 defensive snaps.

A "full-time" DT will likely play about 800+ snaps, like Hill did back in 2022.

Jenkins had 3 sacks and 11 total pressures in those 496 snaps, according to PFF.
If Jenkins ends up playing more of a full workload, he could have been around 5 sacks, 18 total pressures.

While the sacks may be ok, that'd be quite a low number of pressures.
We need someone at the 3T who can get at least 30+, which is what BJ Hill has done each of the past 3 seasons.

Jenkins might end up being a well-rounded DT, but I can't see him ever being a true interior pass rushing dude like we want/expect.

Myles Garrett has formally asked the Browns to be traded. Why don’t we send them Tee and a draft pick

All hopes turn to next year

Myles Garret asks for a trade, so do it Bengals. #17 for Garrett, let Tee walk and sign a top notch guard or two, sign a cheaper alternative for WR2. Still money in the bank to extend Trey and Chase and add more help on the defense. Trey and Myles on the edge would be incredible!

I like it but its prob going to take more than that to get Garrett.

Can't send them Tee he's not even going to be a Bengal in about a month...

You could tag & trade Tee.

A trade that would make sense for all parties involved would be the 17th & Trey Hendrickson for Myles Garrett & the the 33rd pick.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

I have made that argument for other pass rushers (Maxx Crosby).

For Myles Garrett, I would up the ante to Tee and  next year's third rounder.

All for trading for Myles Garrett for damn sure. He shown late in the year the plantar fasciitis got tamed down a bit.

He was rushing really well against the Chiefs, just couldn't get home.

From the looks of it, Garrett would be practically playing for nothing on the new team if traded, as his base salary is incredibly low, right?

If so, maybe Bengals could work out some type of plan to either sign and trade Higgins for around 1-2 years, $20-25 mill APY to Browns where Bengals would take on the entirety of Higgins' contract to help the Browns with cap, or...
Tag Higgins and trade him plus a 1st rounder. Not sure if that would be enough to get MG though. May have to also add a Day 2 pick to sweeten the deal to a division rival.

MG + TH would be a menacing DL though, and it would make for an exciting offseason of hype, even if it meant losing Higgins.

We can only hope.

Be useful for once in your existence, Browns, and don't trade him to KC or Buffalo. Send him to the Panthers or the Bears.
