BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded

Yep, he is no Maxx Crosby that is for sure. We could get maybe Jonathan Allen and a 2nd round pick for Trey though because he is a
fantastic pass rusher.

The organization made sure all bases were covered. It's not about positions.

Trey's agent really didn't do him any favors when they negotiated his extension.

I'm not real optimistic that they get enough in return to justify the Bengals making a deal. That would have to be at least a day 2 pick IMO. The team acquiring him will likely have to negotiate a new deal with Trey. Giving up a decent pick plus going out what's going to be a 28 plus mil deal is a tough ask when they player in question is approaching the downside of his career.

The team has every ounce of leverage here.

They lack both volume and quality on the DL right now. If Trey goes, they'd better get their boots on and open up the checkbook next week.

Same thing happened when Bates and Reader weren’t signed. “Well they aren’t that good anyways”

He always was... Helluva job getting to the QB though. If you're gonna be a one trick pony, do that one trick really well.

Of the big 3 in question, Trey is the oldest, and if he wanted 3 more years, I wasn't overly interested. He may still play for the Bengals this year. I'm not trippin' that he's been granted permission to seek a trade. I'm also not gonna say he's the best DE in the league because he led the league in sacks. Garrett and Crosby are in a different tier to me. Nothing that happened today made me believe that.

Guys we have been fans of this team for so long, who really thought this front office could pull anything remotely close off?

If it were up to them they would call the team the Cincinnati Benjamin's
"If the most important thing is the financials' and the second most important thing is winning, then you don't have a chance. It's so important for ownership to do what it takes to win"

Yep, even last year his agent demanded an extension right when it was impossible to extend him. 32 mil per year should of been plenty
and that is what I heard they offered Trey. Have to open the check book and get at least 1 End and bring back Ossai.

...but injury proned number 2 receiver Tee Higgins is irreplaceable?

I would hope the idea isnt to replace Hendrickson with a draft pick because you could end up with another Myles Murphy.  I would hope the plan is instead of paying Hendrickson 35 million dollars a year, you sign Josh Sweat at a cheaper cost plus you have leftover money to put toward Milton Williams and on top of getting these two guys you have also netted a draft pick.

Yeah, we have been harping on Trey's run Defense for years. If people wanted us to pay 35 mil per year for 3 more years good on them.

I wouldn't be overly excited about it and would be cautious of fall off from Trey.

That has to be the plan. Don't rely on the Draft at all with our history even if it is a very deep Draft for DL.

is duke tobin related to any of this. without tee and trey, this team will look hilarious. We need a haul for both of them. I get Trey is old now. I wish we considering trading players at the right time instead of too late.

This would be great for a re-building defense.

I think we can assume that they will do their best to bring back Ossai, but I won't hold my breath. We both know that pass rushers get the dough thrown at them. We'll have to see if the Bengals match it. I could easily see a scenario where they lowball him and he rolls on to greener pastures. Ben Franklin green!

Just have a plan in mind Duke. And don’t overvalue Trey. You aren’t getting a top 5 pick or multiple firsts.

Don't worry, we'll replace his production with a 3rd Round pick.

With the Bengals luck, Trey will swing a deal with Pittsburgh. Twat on one side, Trey on the other. The Steelers abuse Burrow the next two years.

The Bengals don’t have to make the trade.
You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American

Well they’ve dumped a bunch of salary so far. No reason the can’t sign both receivers and some quality FAs. They owe like three people money now.

True but what if the Bengals don't match their offer? Do they have to? They DID give Trey permission to seek a trade.

I think the Falcons or Commanders get it done, but I lean towards the Falcons. They have been desperate for a pass rusher and have had no luck to this point.

It would be interesting to see about getting Kyle Pitts back with a mid round pick to go with him. Pitts has one year left to prove he can do something and I think the upside is there especially in our offense. Everyone will immediately jump to the Commanders and Jonathan Allen which does make some sense but I think he gets cut and takes a lower contract then his current one. If not, I'd be open to it but I'd still want another pick back probably later.
